The AFC announced on its official website on the 28th that the deadline for submitting bids for the 2023 Men's Football Asian Cup will be postponed from the previous June 30 to July 15.
The 2023 Asian Cup was originally scheduled to be held in China from June 16 to July 16 next year. On May 14, after joint discussions between the AFC, Chinese Football Association and the 2023 Asian Cup Chinese Organizing Committee, it was decided that the current Asian Cup football match will be held in a different location.
Subsequently, the AFC issued an announcement that AFC member units interested in taking over China to host the 2023 Asian Cup need to formally submit their applications before June 30. On June 28, two days before the original deadline, the AFC postponed the deadline for submitting intention applications to July 15.
Last month, Japan informally raised the possibility of bidding to host the Asian Cup. On June 19, the Korean Football Association formally submitted a request to bid for the Asian Cup. On June 20, the Australian Football Association also stated that it was seriously considering a bid to host the 2023 Men's Football Asian Cup.
