According to Shizuoka news, a mass infection occurred in a hotel located in Hamamatsu, southwest of Tokyo. On the 9th, the facility conducted nucleic acid tests on 30 staff responsible for receiving the athlete delegation, and five of them were confirmed to be infected with the new crown virus on the 12th. On the 13th, 2 staff members and the family members of 1 staff member were found to be infected. A total of 8 people tested positive for the new coronavirus and were identified as collective infections. On the 14th, one more person was confirmed to be infected with the new crown virus at the hotel.
So far, the hotel has had 9 confirmed cases of concentrated infection.
The Brazilian judo delegation, which arrived at the hotel on the 10th but did not come into contact with the infected person, plans to continue to stay at the hotel, according to the local municipality. According to reports, 31 members of the Brazilian Olympic team are currently in a quarantine area inside the hotel, separated from other guests, and are not currently infected.
