According to a report on the satnews website on July 14, Planet Labs PBC announced that it has signed a new contract with the German Federal Office of Cartography and Geodesy (BKG) to provide the agency with daily updated high-resolution satellite Data for responding to natural crises, environmental and nature conservation, and forest and agricultural monitoring.

Planet claims that their more than 200 satellites image the entire earth's landmass, including Germany, in up to eight spectral bands every day. BKG will use remote sensing data, as well as other data sets, to conduct up-to-date analyzes of environmental changes caused by climate change. Through this cooperation agreement, employees at more than 400 German federal agencies now have direct access to Planet’s data.
