2. What other types of inefficient, ineffective or even counter-effect GDP are around us?

(1) Excessive advertising and packaging consumed GDP

For example, there are some schools who have been studying in school for three years, and the school spends half of the first year's tuition fees even all on advertising and enrollment for enrollment. Who is paying for this money? Is this cost beneficial to students? The cost of certain product promotion and marketing accounts for one-third of the selling price or even higher. Is this money beneficial to customers? For example, a winery brand registered in 1990 won the bid for the TV station's prime time advertisement in 1996. The advertising fee given is equivalent to giving the TV station a luxury Mercedes-Benz car every day. Who is paying for these "Mercedes-Benz cars"? Is drinking alcohol of this scale beneficial to the people's health? The previous chapter talks about the commission fees given by certain long-term insurance types to intermediaries or sales, which may account for more than 30% or more of the first year premium. After spending this money, the insurance public actually does not benefit. So who is benefiting?

Those who take advantage of information barriers and asymmetric underlying rules and "sell straw into gold bars" will ultimately benefit, as well as the contractors or subcontractors of those projects will also benefit, while the real payer and final users will not benefit. The GDP generated by this type of expenditure is inefficient GDP.

(2) Huge war and military-related consumption of GDP

According to data statistics, in 2019, the total expenditure of military troops from all over the world exceeded 1.9 trillion US dollars. The U.S. military expenditure is about 2nd to 11th place combined, accounting for 38% of global military expenditure. This does not include the huge expenses related to casualties, medical care, compensation, post-damage reconstruction, etc. caused by war. This type of consumption is the GDP generated by the prisoners' confrontation with each other in " Prisoner Dilemma ". It is purely a counter-effect GDP that makes human beings hate but helpless!

If you don’t have a concept of $1.9 trillion, let’s compare the non-profit organization Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation , which is the largest charitable foundation in the world. As of 2020, it has only donated and funded in 135 countries around the world. After comparison, let’s have a dream. If these 1.9 trillion US dollars have become “positive GDP”, then how can humans have any worries and sadness? But why don’t humans do things that everyone knows right?

(3) Huge damage, the restored GDP

This is not difficult to understand. Look at your hometown, rivers and lakes that may be polluted by heavy metals, the bare mountain tops and deserts after cutting down, the scars left by mining, the overall sinking of coal mines, the crazy growth of alien species, etc. In addition to the ignorance and inadvertent destruction of humans, a considerable number of them are intentional acts that violate the law. After that, society spent a lot of money to restore the environment. While emitting a large amount of carbon dioxide , we spend huge amounts of money to control carbon emissions. In some areas, many houses that have been built for less than 30 years may be demolished as a whole and built new houses. No matter what its nature is, doing something well and then destroying it is a reduction of the overall wealth of the people. I saw a good road becoming a "zipper link". It was excavated 4 times in three years, the landscape trees on both sides were changed 3 times in five years, and even the street lights were changed several times. The city was always in traffic jams and consumed more gasoline. Employees always had to get up early and go on the road, so the city's GDP rose like this.

Repeated consumption of construction, destruction, recovery, and redestruction and recovery corresponds to material flow and people flow, which greatly accelerates the cycle of wealth redistribution, but unfortunately, only huge and inefficient or counter-effect GDP has been generated.

(4) The GDP

generated by overly strengthened management and monitoring systems are everywhere, and bad people are everywhere. Everyone looks like bad people before they can't be identified. In the "prisoner's dilemma", we can often only strengthen security precautions based on "probable crimes". So we will see that there are many safety regulations, supervisory personnel, and supervision and auditors in the company. Surveillance cameras are everywhere, security guards are staring at the big screen in three shifts 24 hours a day, with one security door after another, firewall after another, and anti-fraud education round after round. In the past, the bank counter was basically open, and both sides could handle it with their hands. Later, it was used to isolate both sides with bulletproof glass , leaving a curve like a mouse hole below. In the past, my family’s belongings were locked in a drawer, but now I have to buy a steel safe to feel safe. In the past, the living room doors were basically made of wooden and there was no anti-theft net on the windows. Now they are almost all stainless steel anti-theft doors, and some are double-layered. Almost all windows are equipped with anti-theft nets, even if they are invisible.

The country is equipped with a large number of civil servants to crack down on illegal and disorderly discipline and tax evasion. A large number of competent police, auxiliary police and volunteers on the street are maintaining social order. A considerable part of the company's management costs are used to supervise and manage employees. From small companies to large countries, we have consumed too much resources for supervision, monitoring, preventing, and identifying bad people to generate corresponding GDP. In an environment where you are not very at ease, it will indeed bring a sense of security, but that's all.

It would be great if this GDP is not consumed and the game rules are improved to achieve stable and safe effects.

(5) GDP

(5) Specializing in raising lazy people, we may often see a large group of people around us who have not created much wealth, but are more leisurely, richer, and more able to generate large-scale consumer GDP than most people. For example, inheriting home property, land and house expropriation and demolition compensation, etc. After seeing it, ordinary people often keep saliva and say to themselves: His fate is because I am not lucky. But does this have anything to do with fate and luck? This phenomenon is just a product of artificial rules of the game. Although the current rules run contrary to the basic principle of "wealth belongs to the creator and more work is more rewarding", it still exists firmly. Therefore, as long as the underlying logic remains unchanged, the rules and phenomena specifically for "raising lazy people" will not change. What's more troublesome is that people have become accustomed to it.

As the wealth concentration in modern society becomes higher and higher, despite the inheritance tax, it is still impossible to stop the huge amount of inheritance inheritance inheritance is becoming larger and larger. It is said that there are dozens of ways to evade inheritance tax in order to maintain control. Non-renewable resources such as land are becoming more and more expensive, and more and more people are sitting with resources and reaching out to receive "pie falling from the sky". Therefore, the GDP corresponding to "raising lazy people" will only become larger and larger, and the gap between the rich and the poor may further widen. If the development continues, the more leisurely the society will be, the more rich the people may be.

(6) "Say it again, I live a fun life without smoking." Unhealthy GDP

Once more than one colleague smoked cigarettes and teased me: Lao Tong, you don't smoke, drink, and go to bars. What's the point of living as a man? If you save money like you, how can the country's GDP be increased? I could only smile and say: Actually, I live a very interesting life without smoking. If you smoke and drink, you can calculate it based on the average contribution of 800 yuan per month. I use this 800 yuan per month to invite the whole family out for a meal every one or two weeks, watch at least a movie, or buy clothes for the children. You see, smoking by yourself is a person who "enjoys" the double chance of lung cancer, and allows colleagues to "enjoy" the harassment of second-hand smoke. However, I also generate 800 yuan in GDP, but I have allowed the whole family to enjoy a few very affordable happiness. Mine is happy and efficient GDP, the more the better, while yours is unhealthy and counterproductive GDP, the less the better.

Walk from my office to the restaurant on the other end of the school. You can pass through a quiet bamboo forest and a pond in the middle. It takes about 15 minutes to walk. I usually walk to the restaurant and it feels slightly hot.A colleague often drove over, and it took 10 minutes to get to the restaurant comfortably because he had to take a detour. The difference between us is that he estimated to generate 10 yuan in GDP at a time when driving, but I cannot generate GDP. He spent money to enjoy the air conditioner, but I did not spend money to enjoy sports and quiet bamboo forests.

Once in the hospital, I saw a long queue in the payment office, and it was crowded everywhere. I thought that some patients with three highs and tumors are related to human factors such as living habits, diet, and exercise. Some people spend money to buy enjoyment first, and then spend more money to go to the hospital to suffer in the future. The scale of this part of GDP is quite large, but it is counterproductive. Some people even turn their lifelong savings into reverse GDP.

Is it because we can’t control our desire to enjoy ourselves, or is it that someone outside deliberately fuels and tempts you, causing us to produce a large amount of unhealthy GDP? Who benefits from unhealthy GDP?

(7) "I buy you a lunch time", the unhappy GDP

A father who runs around for the sake of his family's livelihood rarely eats with his son and his wife at home. The son who is in elementary school even finds it difficult to say a few words to his father. One night, my father returned home exhausted after working overtime again. After waiting for his father to come back, my son asked timidly: Dad, how much money can you make in an hour? Dad said unhappily: $20, why are you asking about this? My son continued to say that you can lend me $10? Dad was even more unhappy and said: What do you want to do? Don’t borrow it, go to bed quickly! The next day, my father felt sorry for suppressing his son like this yesterday, so he kissed his son's forehead and gave him $10 after returning home in the evening. My son was very happy and took out the scattered $10 coins from the iron box, plus the $10 given by his father, and handed it to his father and said: Dad, this is $20. Can I buy you an hour of your day tomorrow? Go home early and have a dinner with me and my mother? After hearing this, the father held his son and shed tears and immediately agreed to his son's request. Seeing this, my eyes were moist.

It is obvious that my father will definitely create less GDP for one hour that is not happy for one hour. He did not have a piece of bread on the dining table, but it was exchanged for a happy time that the whole family could not express.

More happiness does not necessarily correspond to a larger GDP, and a larger GDP does not mean that more people will be happy. So although the size of GDP is important, it is not necessarily positively correlated with the happiness index. Sit and stop, maybe it’s not a bad thing, so it’s less unhappy GDP.

After writing the above points, I thought to myself: Human beings have been busy all their lives and have built up huge GDP buildings, but how much is the part that is truly beneficial to themselves? Who benefits the most among GDP full of inefficiency, inefficiency, and even counterproductive?

2. Credit currency depreciates and dilutes wealth. The water-filled GDP

mentioned in the previous credit currency content that the amount of credit currency issuance is related to the decisions of the central control agency. If the additional currency issuance exceeds market demand, it may depreciate rapidly. A rapidly depreciating currency is conducive to promoting "spend money", blowing up GDP and wealth redistribution, and increasing residents' sense of financial insecurity and uncertainty about the future. So people had to take two measures to protect their purchasing power: make money harder and seek investment and financial management. The former is forced by the rules of the game to work harder based on fear, while the latter is induced by the financial management environment to be bolder based on greed.

The biggest trouble with credit currency is that there is no value anchor to anchor its purchase value. I still wonder why people at the beginning would accept a currency anchored by the so-called "central credit" and put themselves on a huge wealth stove all day long. Once the credit controller starts the printing machine , the broad money supply (M2) of the society's "wealth" begins to expand sharply. After the currency enters circulation, the GDP data will be amplified like a balloon for a period of time. As the currency is diluted, the GDP figure will be injected accordingly, and the inefficient GDP will increase accordingly.
