The basic concept of Yin and Yang
1. What is Yin and Yang
Yin and Yang refer to two fundamental oppositional contradictory attributes of things. Any thing has two aspects of Yin and Yang opposition. The movement of Yin and Yang is the root of the growth, change and extinction of things.
In traditional Chinese veterinary medicine: Yin-Yang theory uses a simple materialistic dialectical perspective to understand various physiological phenomena, therapeutic principles and pharmacology of the body. Traditional Chinese veterinary medicine believes that each part of the body has two two aspects that are both opposite and unified, Yin-Yang. Traditional Chinese veterinary medicine believes that the occurrence and development of the disease are also caused by the damage of the normal relationship between the opposite and unity of Yin-Yang.
However, the yin and yang attributes of things are not absolutely unchanged and can change each other under certain conditions. For example, in terms of the relationship between chest and back, the back belongs to yang, and the chest belongs to yin, but the relationship between chest and abdomen is that the chest is yang above and the abdomen below is yin. It can explain the relationship between two opposite things, and it can also explain the relationship between two opposing aspects that exist within the same thing.
Therefore, Yin and Yang can be used to illustrate the relationship between the two opposites between the internal and external structures and functions of the body.
2. The basic laws of changes in yin and yang
The basic laws of changes in yin and yang are as follows:
(1) The mutual roots of yin and yang
means that any party of yin and yang exists as the existence of the other party, such as having or not , which is difficult and easy to form. So without yin there will be no yang, and without yang there will be no yin. "The origin of life is based on yin and yang. Yin and yang are separated, and the spirit is eliminated." Traditional Chinese veterinarians believe that life is a process of mutual connection and mutual struggle between yin and yang. If yin and yang are separated, life will stop. As for the physiology of the body, subtle matter is the basis for the production of functional activities, and functional activities are the driving force for the production of subtle matter.
(2) Yin and Yang growth and decline
Yin and Yang antagonize and interact on the basis of opposing each other. On the basis of maintaining balance, the phenomenon of one's growth and the other's growth and the other's advance and retreat appearing. This process of Yin and Yang development and change, that is, the process of Yin and Yang antagonism, growth and change, must also maintain the relative balance of Yin and Yang in the body's physiology, and cannot transcend relative balance or have any side that exceeds the limit. Because physiological balance is not an absolute static balance, but a relative balance maintained in the process of continuous movement, growth and change. For example, when various functional activities of the body are in progress, a certain amount of subtle substances in the body must be consumed, which will have the meaning of yin and yang growth. The production of various substances in the body must consume a certain amount of energy in the body, which also contains the meaning of "yin grows and yang disappears". This range of growth and growth is normal. If in abnormal situations, if one side "eliminates too much" and "grows too much", the disease will occur. Therefore, yin deficiency (too much eliminated) will lead to yang hypertension, yang deficiency will lead to yin excess, and conversely, yin excess (too much growth) will lead to yang deficiency, and yang hypertension will lead to yin deficiency. If you suffer from acute fever, high fever (excessive yang) often damages the yin. The symptoms of body fluid depletion are yin deficiency caused by excessive yang. This is an example of the rise and fall of yin and yang.
(3) Yin and Yang conversion
"Double yang must be yin" "Double yin must be yang" means that the yin and yang can be converted to each other under certain conditions, yin can be converted to yang, and yang can also be converted to yin. As mentioned above, physiologically, subtle substances can produce functions, and functional activities can produce subtle substances. Pathologically, under certain conditions, yin syndrome can be converted into yang syndrome, and yang syndrome can also be converted into yin syndrome.
Clinical application of Yin and Yang
1. Application in pathogenesis
In the study of veterinary medicine, "Yin is flat and yang is secret, and the spirit is the treatment" means that only when the body's yin and yang are relatively balanced can normal physiological activities be maintained. When the relative balance of Yin and Yang is broken, and there is a tendency or weakening, diseases will occur. According to the principle of yin and yang growth, common clinical symptoms of yang deficiency caused by yin excess, such as cold limbs, fear of cold, weak pulse, etc., such as excessive yang energy caused by yin deficiency, may occur insomnia, dry mouth, , dry mouth, , red tongue, thin pulse, etc., etc., yin deficiency and excessive yang. According to the principle that yin and yang are mutually rooted, when any yin and yang are weak to a certain extent, it can often lead to insufficient of the other party, that is, "yin damages yang", "yang damages yin", and certain chronic diseases often eventually develop into both yin and yang deficiency.
2. Application in diagnostic
In dialectics, the eight outline dialectics is the basis of dialectics, and Yin and Yang are the general outline of dialectics of the eight outlines, so Yin and Yang are the basis of all dialectics. Traditional Chinese veterinary medicine "when diagnosing and treating diseases, we must first examine yin and yang." On this basis, we further dialectically and formulate treatment principles.
3. Application in treatment
Traditional veterinarians propose: "Please observe where yin and yang are located and adjust it, and take it to the end" means the treatment principle of Chinese veterinarians. By treating the body's yin and yang, the purpose of restoring the relative balance of yin and yang is achieved to eliminate diseases.
In terms of the nature and taste function of the drug, it is also distinguished by yin and yang. For example, warm drugs belong to yang, cold drugs belong to yin. Another example is that the spicy and sweet drugs are yang, sour and bitter, and surging and diarrhea belong to yin. By clarifying the yin and yang properties of the drug, you can control the simplicity and control the traditional Chinese and flexibly use various drugs.
