1. Aker BP completed Drilling of the 25/2-22 S evaluation well in PL 442 offshore Norway. PL442 block operator Aker BP has completed the 25/2-22 S appraisal well. The well is 40 kilometers northeast of the Alvheim oil field in the North Sea and 200 kilometers northwest of Stavanger. This well is a further evaluation of the 25/2-21 discovery (Skade Formation, Miocene) made in 2019. The well encountered 31 meters of the same reservoir found in Well 25/2-21. Kaixin and permeability are both high quality. The well has a depth of 111 meters and has been closed and permanently abandoned. (Energy-pedia, September 1)

2. IGas submitted a planning application for the hydrogen project. IGas announced that the planning application for the Albury and Bletchingley hydrogen project has been submitted to the Surrey County Council. IGas will participate in the second UK CCUS Hydrogen Decarbonization Summit later today, and a copy of the report will be available at http://www.igasplc.com/investors/presentations. As part of this presentation, no new materials or financial information were released. (Energy-pedia, August 31)

3. CGG GeoSoftware cooperates with AWS to bring the benefits of cloud earth science and technology to China's exploration and development. CGG GeoSoftware and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are expanding their cooperation in the global exploration and development industry to China (NWCD operates in the Ningxia region of AWS China, and Sinnet operates in the Beijing region of AWS ). GeoSoftware 11.0 is a combination of reservoir description and petrophysical interpretation software solutions recently launched by CGG. It can currently be used in China's exploration and development industry in AWS China (Ningxia) region. The good record of cooperation between CGG GeoSoftware and AWS has brought valuable experience for cloud computing deployment. In order to solve the common problems of reservoir modeling in China, due to the complex geology, thin stratum, and strong reservoir heterogeneity, it is necessary to improve the accuracy of uncertainty assessment to reduce risks. The two sides cooperate to tackle this problem.(Energy-pedia, August 31)

4. ADNOC awarded an offshore exploration block to a consortium led by Pakistan Petroleum Corporation. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has signed a historic exploration license agreement, granting the exploration rights for Abu Dhabi Offshore Block 5 to a consortium of four Pakistani companies- Pakistan Petroleum Co., Ltd. Companies (PPL), Mali Petroleum Company (MPCL), Oil and Gas Development Corporation (OGDCL) and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL). This is the result of the second round of competitive block bids by Abu Dhabi . The consortium is led by PPL. This marks the first time that a Pakistani company has invested in and explored oil and gas in Abu Dhabi's franchise, and it is also the first time ADNOC has cooperated with a Pakistani energy company. During the exploration period, the consortium will invest 304.7 million US dollars in exploration. (Energy-pedia, September 1)

Since 2008, dry natural gas production from the Appalachian Basin shale across Pennsylvania , West Virginia and Ohio has been increasing. The monthly output hit a new high recently. In December 2020, the region’s production reached 32.5 billion cubic feet per day, and the average production in the first half of 2021 was 31.9 billion cubic feet per day, the highest average level in six months since the start of production in 2008. The Appalachian Basin contains two sets of shale formations, Marcellus and Utica, which accounted for 34% of American dry gas production in the first half of 2021. For its part, the Appalachian Basin will become the world's third largest natural gas producing basin in the first half of 2021, second only to Russia and the rest of the United States. In 2000, these six states accounted for 39% of the country’s primary energy production, indicating that primary energy production is increasingly concentrated in the main producing states. U.S. primary energy production increased by 40% from 2009 to 2019, mainly due to increased oil and gas production in Texas, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and North Dakota. (EIA, August 31)
