Many people may have had the experience of having temporary problems but not refunding their tickets when watching movies. What is the current refund and change policy for movie tickets? Are there unified standards for policies?
According to CCTV Finance, the reporter randomly selected a Shanghai cinema on the ticket purchase platform and purchased two movie tickets that were played the next day. Before payment, the page showed the sign "No refund or change is supported". Subsequently, the reporter tried several theaters that also stipulated that "no refunds" tickets were allowed, and some of them agreed to refund tickets.
reporter learned from multiple platforms and theaters that the current policy of refunding and replacing movie tickets is mainly decided by the theater.
Legal person: Movie tickets cannot be refunded and changed is a "unfair clause"
Although the platform makes a "no refund" prompt on the purchase page, does this provision belong to a unfair clause? Is it legally tenable? Why is the refund and change policy of movie tickets not like air tickets and train tickets, with unified standards?
reporter learned from industry associations that the current regulations on refund and change of movie tickets by cinemas in various places are usually decided by the theater and the platform, and the theater has greater autonomy. Since my country's cinema industry is characterized by scattered and mixed characteristics, there is currently no unified industry norm for this.
The provision that movie tickets and concert tickets are not refundable seems to have become the industry's unspoken rules. So, is this legal provision tenable?

Wang Rui, a lawyer at the Shanghai Branch of Global Law Firm: This article is clearly stipulated in the " Civil Code ", which is similar to a standard clause. The standard clause has clear provisions on increasing consumer responsibility and reducing the responsibility of the seller, that is, a standard clause cannot be unilaterally made. This is a bully clause. Consumers can protect their legitimate rights and interests through civil litigation, including reporting to the Consumer Association.
Industry insiders said that theaters have a history of a hundred years in my country, and early movie tickets were purchased on-site, and tickets were hard to get. In recent years, with the rise of ticket sales on third-party platforms, online ticket sales have accounted for 80%, and the industry is constantly being regulated.
