In 1989, this man flew a fighter jet straight to the mainland, and twelve Taiwan fighters chased him wildly

Taiwan is China's largest island, located in the southeast coast of the motherland, facing the Pacific Ocean to the east, Fujian Province to the west across the Taiwan Strait, and to the south across the Bashi Channel and the Philippine Islands. Taiwan has been China's territory since ancient times. As early as the Three Kingdoms period, King Wu and Sun Quan sent Wei Wen and Zhuge straightforwardly led tens of thousands of people to Taiwan.

Beginning in the Southern Song Dynasty, Taiwan was placed under Fujian Province and sent troops to defend it. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, mainland residents began to migrate to Taiwan on a large scale, and Taiwan also began to enter a period of large-scale development. Later, after Taiwan was occupied by the Dutch, it was quickly recovered by Zheng Chenggong and returned to the motherland during the Kangxi period. After the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, Taiwan was invaded by Japanese colonialism, but it was met with fierce resistance from the Taiwanese people. During the half-century of Japanese rule of Taiwan, more than 600,000 Taiwanese were tragically hurt by rebelling against the Japanese rule. After World War II, Taiwan returned to the motherland, but within a few years, the Kuomintang government headed by Chiang Kai-shek fled to Taiwan Island in an attempt to confront the mainland through the Taiwan Strait.

After the founding of New China, due to the intervention of external forces, our country has not been able to regain Taiwan for a long time, but the PLA has never given up its plan to regain Taiwan by force. Later, the two sides of the strait became calm, but there were many open and secret fights, especially in the air force. The two sides defected from each other from time to time. Until 1989, Taiwan planes flew to the mainland to revolt. This person was Lin Shunxian.

Lin Shunxian is different from the Kuomintang pilots in previous uprisings. He is a native Taiwanese who was born in an ordinary rural family in Miaoli County, Taiwan Province. In 1976, Lin Shunxian was assigned to work at an airport in eastern Taiwan after graduating from the military academy. After flying for a year, he was transferred to Taiwan's Taoyuan Air Force Flight Base. In 1981, Lin Shunxian heard an explosive news. With 2,600 hours of flying experience, Huang Zhicheng, a Taiwanese ace pilot who was promoted to Air Force Major at the age of 26, flew to the mainland in the latest Taiwan American F-5F aircraft.

Huang Zhicheng's uprising shocked Lin Shunxian a lot. The relationship between the two of them was very deep. Lin Shunxian's ancestor was the Fujian Hakka, so the idea of the uprising was also born. In 1989, Lin Shunxian was promoted to an air force squadron as an instructor, responsible for the ideological work of officers and soldiers. At that time, Lin Shunxian was very disgusted with the KMT's theory. In addition, at that time, he was in a state of incompatibility with his wife, so he began to prepare to fly to the mainland.

On February 11, 1989, which is also the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, Lin Shunxian walked blankly to the side of a refueled F-5E fighter plane. He knew that the plane was about to take off, and the pilot would be there soon. When he arrived, he said to the staff on duty: "I flew this plane today. Hurry up and clear it up. Don't miss it." Two minutes later, Lin Shunxian drove the fighter into the air. Five minutes later, the pilot of this plane could not be found. The aircraft, immediately reported to the headquarters, and the headquarters sensed that something was wrong, and immediately ordered the 12 fighters on standby to carry missiles to take off and intercept.

Lin Shunxian is an old pilot. In order to avoid radar searches of the Taiwan military, he has been flying at very low altitude after entering the coastline. The Taiwan Airport Command was also very panicked at the time, and directly issued an order in plain language to the 12 pursuing fighters: it was found to be shot down immediately. This information was immediately monitored by our side, and 12 fighter jets flying over from Taiwan were also seen on the radar. We guessed that there was a pilot uprising on the other side, and immediately ordered four fighters to stop them head-on.

At that time, 12 Taiwan fighters crossed the center line of the strait desperately and chased after Lin Shunxian at twice the speed of sound. However, the Taiwan Aircraft Command did not dare to expand the matter. After seeing the fighters flying over the center line of the strait, they immediately ordered their return. Our fighter saw that the other side had returned home, and began to fly back to look for Lin Shunxian's aircraft, ready to provide guidance for him.

Because the radio installations on both sides of the strait were different, Lin Shunxian never received our radar guidance signal. Finally, after running out of fuel, he fell to the playground of a primary school. Many teachers and students thought they were PLA pilots after seeing it. That night, a deputy commander of the Guangzhou Military Region took him away in a helicopter. After the uprising, Lin Shunxian went to an aviation school in Shijiazhuang to serve as deputy chief of staff. The following year he was awarded the rank of colonel. Later he was promoted to a colonel and served as deputy principal of the aviation school and assistant chief of staff of the Beijing Military Region Air Force.
