He is a hero who died heroically on the Korean battlefield. He is a hero who was compiled into Chinese textbooks. His hometown was named after him. President Peng Dehuai appointed him special merits...
is such a people's hero . Many years after his sacrifice, he was questioned by his younger generations: the authenticity of the deeds of .
is hard to imagine what kind of person he is and what kind of mood he will doubt the martyr. But in order to clear the reputation of the hero and to let everyone remember history, today let us approach the hero - Qiu Shaoyun again.
"Soldier"
When it comes to Qiu Shaoyun, everyone can think of his heroic deeds - burning his body with fire until his death. But few people know that he was once a member of the Kuomintang. What's going on?
Figure 1
Born in 1926, Qiu Shaoyun was born in a beautiful Sichuan-Chongqing village where the rice flowers are fragrant, sweet berries, and farmers are simple. Qiu Shaoyun, who should have grown up in the quiet years, encountered misfortune when he was nine years old.
Qiu Shaoyun's family has four children, and he is the second child. In order to bear the life of a family, Qiu Shaoyun's father often needs to go out to work. But when wars break out in the country, how can the people live a stable life?
Qiu's father lost his job in the war and had to run to the dock to push the boat. In this way, Qiu's father became a boatman with the vocals of "one, two, three, hey," hey. His feet were soaked in water every day, and he could only swing his arms and fuck him when the sun was shining.
It’s a pity that although the farmers are simple, the landlords are cruel. In order to pay less wages, the dock owner asked the servants to kill many boatmen, and Qiu Shaoyun's father was among them.
That year, Qiu Shaoyun was only nine years old. When he saw his father's body carried home, he still didn't understand what "death" was. I just saw my mother staggering and falling on my father, who was covered in white cloth, and cried heartbrokenly for a long time. A year later, my mother's crying also disappeared.
She went with her father, leaving only Qiu Shaoyun and two young brothers behind. (The eldest brother was adopted by someone else)
Figure 2
In order to survive, Qiu Shaoyun took his younger brothers to beg for . The villagers in the village saw that they were pitiful and would always give them a bite of food. When he was fourteen years old, Qiu Shaoyun finally found a job - helping the landlords push the mill.
Although I still can’t eat enough every day, my life is settled, so my brothers don’t have to go hungry anymore. Such beliefs support Qiu Shaoyun to grow up, but every day of such embarrassing days, Qiu Shaoyun’s inner hatred increases.
He hates those landlords, those officials protect each other, and hates this unfair world.
But fortunately, there is struggle if there is injustice. As the army led by the Communist Party gradually grew, the Japanese devils were driven out of China, and the poor people were about to turn over and become masters!
But before Qiu Shaoyun could wait for this day, he was dragged into a strong man by the Kuomintang and became a traitor in the Kuomintang army. He knew very well that the actions of the Kuomintang army were never for the people, but he could not escape the control of the Kuomintang.
After becoming a chef, Qiu Shaoyun became even more tired. He had to get up before dawn every day to cook, and he had to get up at any time to meet the needs of his superiors.
Figure 3
It is understood that during the days of the Kuomintang army, Qiu Shaoyun had been whipped many times and was once detained in a confinement room without food and drink.
This dark time made Qiu Shaoyun lose the will to survive, but the PLA's pace also accelerated its progress, as if it was rushing to save this fresh life.
Figure 4
Then he asked his comrades to write a letter from home, and finally left his eight characters: resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea , defend the country !
"Fire Burning"
On June 25, 1950, the Korean War broke out. With the help of the US military, North Korea was defeated and retreated step by step. In order not to let the "three knives" curb our country, Chairman Mao made the final decision: resist the U.S. aggression and aid Korea, and defend the country!
Just like that, Chinese People's Volunteer Army army set out in a mighty way! Qiu Shaoyun followed the team and felt a sense of responsibility in his heart.
Figure 5
However, war is not a joke. The volunteer army team faces not only the rain of bullets every day, but also the advanced tanks and aircraft of the US military. On the way to the front line, Qiu Shaoyun witnessed with his own eyes that a village turned into a hell on earth under the strafing bombardment of US military aircraft.
The house collapsed in an instant, and the straw harvested in front of the door continued to burn, and corpses were everywhere... Suddenly, Qiu Shaoyun heard a sound in the fire, intermittent, Qiu Shaoyun listened again, and it turned out to be the cry of the child!
Suddenly, Qiu Shaoyun no longer hesitated. Perhaps it was his childhood experience that made him empathize, or perhaps it was the justice in his heart that made him unable to keep for a moment. Qiu Shaoyun rushed into the fire at the speed of light and rescued the only surviving North Korean child in the fire.
This child is like his redemption for the past, and also ignits his hatred for the enemy.
Figure 6
In the Korean battlefield, Qiu Shaoyun saw the all-out actions of the US imperialism and the Lee Seung-wan group. Whenever he charges, he always gathers his hatred for the imperialist reactionaries in his heart, and vows to defeat the invaders even if he gives everything, and he fulfills his vow in the end.
In October 1952, Qiu Shaoyun's Nine was connected to a glorious and arduous task. The Korean War was at a critical moment at that time. The superior organizations hoped that everyone would take the initiative into their own hands after this charge, so this task became particularly important.
With the launch of the famous Shangganling Battle , the 391 Highland has also become an indispensable strategic commanding height for the Volunteer Army. However, if this important commanding height cannot be won, it will also become the deadly point for the Volunteer Army.
At this time, the 391 Highland is still in the hands of the US military, and the 391 Highland is about 3 kilometers away from the main peak of Shangganling in . The distance of these 3 kilometers is all flat ground and there is no cover to cover it.
Figure 7
This means that if the charge is launched directly on the 391 high ground, the soldiers will run 3 kilometers quickly before entering the battle. Not to mention that the soldiers' physical strength would not be able to support them at that time. Perhaps they had been killed by the firepower of the US military when they ran after the soldiers launched the charge.
In order to reduce casualties and to capture the 391 Highland in one fell swoop, the superior command finally decided to ambush the Ninth Company in advance into the grass near the 391 Highland. When the other soldiers of our army launched the charge, the Ninth Company gave the enemy a surprise and cooperated to win the battle. After receiving the order, the Ninth Company where Qiu Shaoyun is located was working tirelessly to recuperate his army, preparing to sneak into the high ground at 19:00 that night.
Before leaving, Qiu Shaoyun did something he had always wanted to do - submitted an application for joining the party to the party branch .He wrote in it: " would rather sacrifice himself and never expose his goals. For the sake of the whole, for victory, for the cause of liberation of the Chinese and North Korean people and all mankind, he would be willing to sacrifice everything he had."
He originally thought that after the battle, he could become a party member, but unexpectedly, his words came true and he never came back.
Figure 8
That night, the nine companies successfully lurked near the high ground and hid. From that moment on, they had to wait in place without moving until the battle started.
At that time, no one dared to move around because they knew that at this moment, they not only carried personal life, but also related to the survival of the collective.
The sun slowly rose, until noon, two US troops suddenly walked towards the grass. As they were about to walk to Qiu Shaoyun, everyone's hearts were in their throats.
At that critical moment, the artillery company of the command center launched a strike on them, scaring them to flee. But this also attracted the attention of the US military, and then an reconnaissance aircraft flew over the Ninth Company.
Figure 9
No one dared to move, but the plane began to blindly fire incendiary bombs, and "fireballs" burned in front of the soldiers of the Ninth Company, but Qiu Shaoyun was not so lucky. The spark of the
incendiary bomb splashed on his clothes and started burning instantly, from his cotton coat on his face, to his hair, to his flesh... The soldiers next to
gritted their teeth and witnessed all this with their own eyes. As the fire spread, they even heard the sound of Qiu Shaoyun's body being burned to a "crunch".
Figure 10
But for nearly half an hour, Qiu Shaoyun crossed the will of life and death, and did not move at all until the battle was won. When the soldiers turned around and "retrieve" Qiu Shaoyun, he had become a charred corpse that was only 70 cm long.
But he still kept it to the moment of death in his initial crawling posture.
At that moment, everyone was crying like rain. Some people beat their chests and stamped their feet, and some took off their military caps to express their grief. But what is most unacceptable is that Comrade Qiu Shaoyun's heroic sacrifice was finally only rated as third-class merit . Why is this?
"Military Soul"
91 After the war of capturing the highlands, the company commander of the Ninth Company and the soldiers were still busy with one thing, that is, "realize the name" for Qiu Shaoyun. They believe that the sacrifice of Comrade Qiu Shaoyun, comrade in , was heroic and sensational, and it is difficult to accept the evaluation of only third-class merit. They kept writing application materials, and each soldier also wrote down requests in the materials, hoping that the name of the hero Qiu Shaoyun could be seen in the organization.
Figure 11
Finally, when Mr. Peng saw this material, he was shocked and wrote by himself: Please posthumously sealed the special merit, Peng Dehuai! What exactly made President Peng move and what made Qiu Shaoyun win special merits?
It turned out that there was a description about Qiu Shaoyun in the materials submitted by the Ninth Company:
In order not to expose the lurking troops, he strictly abides by discipline and grits his teeth. At the moment of his sacrifice, his hands were still deeply inserted into the soil. He endured the severe pain with amazing perseverance, without saying a word or moving, until his heroic sacrifice, at the age of 26!
When President Peng saw that Qiu Shaoyun was not exposed until his death, he even inserted his hands into the soil to control himself to endure severe pain, an iron-blooded man like President Peng couldn't help but moisten his eyes.
He said that people like are our heroes, and such souls are the military souls of our Communist Party! So what reason do we have not awarded him special merits?
As for why Qiu Shaoyun was only evaluated as a third-class merit, the organization explained that martyrs who did not fire a single shot, did not kill an enemy, and did not blow up a bunker, could only be evaluated as a third-class merit at most.
Fortunately, in the end, with the unremitting efforts of all the comrades in the Ninth Company and the wisdom and wisdom of President Peng, the hero Qiu Shaoyun finally got the evaluation he deserved.
Figure 13
However, after enjoying the peaceful society that the heroes have built on their flesh and blood, some doubts actually appeared: Does burn Qiu Shaoyun's deeds violate physiology ? If the whole body was really burned at that time, why was the ammunition on the body not detonated?
It is not difficult to see from the previous story that when Mars splashed on Qiu Shaoyun, he never thought that it would be harmful to the collective survival and death because of himself.
As a soldier, he has faith, comrades, family and country, and all kinds of resentment towards the past. And that sentence turns grief and anger into strength, which makes him cross-regional physiological and psychological fears and faces death directly.
If you want to ask why the ammunition on his body was not detonated, judging from his crawling posture and the only unburned abdomen, Qiu Shaoyun had already protected all the ammunition under him at that time.
Figure 14
Because he knew that not only he could not move, but also ammunition could not explode, otherwise all the soldiers of the Ninth Company would be in danger.
It is hard to imagine that the heroic deeds of martyr Qiu Shaoyun would be maliciously speculated in the peaceful era after his sacrifice. Although the times are progressing, many people's minds are not as simple as before.
The people at that time had supreme ideals in their hearts, the awareness of becoming progressive young people, and the quality of willingness to give everything for the Party and the people.
Figure 15
What do we have today? What kind of self can we use to give back to their efforts?
There is a Ming Dynasty poet Yu Qian who once wrote the song " Lime Song ". He used lime to show his ambitions, which is like lime. After he was hammered out of the deep mountains, he was burned by fire as usual. Even if he needed to be crushed to pieces, he had to leave his innocence in the world.
How is this different from Qiu Shaoyun’s experience? When he lost his parents at a young age and suffered from growing up, he finally ushered in a wonderful moment, but he experienced the pain of the fire burning all over his body and sacrificed heroically!
But now, if he knows that he has been questioned, then even if he is crushed to pieces again, he must prove his innocence, right?
"Thousands of hammers and thousands of chisels out of the deep mountains, and the fire burns as if it is easy."
"I am not afraid of being crushed to pieces, but I must keep my innocence in the world."
I would like to end with this poem, hoping that the name of the martyr will not be dirty and the heroic deeds will last forever!
