In the history of our army, there are very few people who can gain the valuation of Mao Zedong and Zhu De at the same time, and one of them is a relatively stranger to us, Zhou Zikun. I believe many people have never heard of this person, because he joined our army very early and died early, and passed by like a meteor in our military history.

In Zhou Zikun's short revolutionary career, he left glorious deeds. He is from Guangxi, born in 1901, as Chen Yi and Marshal Xu Xiangqian was born in the same year. It is said that Guangxi soldiers are fierce, and Zhou Zikun is a good proof.

He was a squad leader in Sun Yat-sen's Iron Armored Army in his early years, and later he was incorporated into General Ye Ting's Independent Regiment . He served as platoon leader, company commander and battalion commander. He was a famous general under General Ye Ting's tent. The Guangxi soldiers are indeed well-known.

Later, Zhou Zikun participated in the Nanchang Uprising . However, the uprising failed, many cadres and soldiers left, and almost all the cadres above the regiment were exposed. Zhu De and Chen Yi reorganized the remaining soldiers and retained the spark of the revolution. Zhou Zikun was the battalion commander at that time, and he had great prestige. He insisted on staying, so General Zhu always attached great importance to him.

Zhou Zikun's persistence was very positive for the soldiers who were shrouded in the mood of failure at that time. He helped to do ideological work for the soldiers. He was injured at that time and remained in the team. Chairman Mao and Zhu De were very moved by this.

Later in 1928, a large number of troops from the Kuomintang encircled Red Army . Zhou Zikun fought a bloody battle with the enemy, and finally he was injured and led the remaining troops to break through. This time, the First Red Army suffered heavy losses, but Li De shirked the blame to Zhou Zikun.

At this time, Chairman Mao knew it well, and he stood up and said fair words, and finally saved Zhou Zikun's life. It was not until the Zunyi meeting that Zhou Zikun returned and served as the deputy chief of staff of the Red Fifth Army . He did not disappoint Chairman Mao's expectations. He made great contributions in the battles such as the Second Zonyi and the Fourth Crossing of Chishui .

Later, Zhou Zikun was transferred to New Fourth Army as deputy chief of staff. However, in 1941, Chiang Kai-shek ordered the Kuomintang army to launch a sneak attack on the New Fourth Army. The positions of the New Fourth Army were successively lost. Later, Zhou Zikun, Xiang Ying and Yuan Guoping were betrayed and sacrificed by traitors.

After Zhou Zikun's death, his wife He Ziyou was still fighting. His wife was also a legendary woman. She was the twelfth generation successor of the Taihe Sect of the Wudang branch. She was called the Wudang female hero at that time, and also had a nickname called "He Tiequan".

Once, He Ziyou brought more than 100 women into the mountains to suppress bandits. At that time, the bandit leader was confident that he had a gun. In addition, He Ziyou was a woman and didn't take them seriously. As a result, He Ziyou slapped the bandit leader with a palm, causing him to die on the spot. The bandits present were at a loss. In the end, more than 500 bandits surrendered and went down the mountain.

This incident became a beautiful story that everyone knew at that time. Zhou Zikun's wife He Ziyou lived a long life, lived 103 years old, and raised a son and a daughter.

After the founding of New China, in 1953, Nanjing Military Region sent people to the place where Xiang Ying’s son Xiang Xuecheng went to the place where Zhou Zikun, Xiang Ying and Yuan Guoping died. With the help of local fellow villagers, they found the remains of the three of them and built a martyrs’ tomb for them in Wangjiangji, Yuhuatai.
