1, Jinan Battle Dongsu Zimu Fort Group Offensive and Defensive Battle

At dawn on September 17, 1948, Maoling Mountain, located in the eastern suburbs of Jinan City, Shandong Province, was captured by our army. This hill, more than 170 meters high, supports each other with several surrounding highlands, has a dangerous terrain and is a natural barrier to attack Jinan City. The enemy built very strong fortifications on the mountain and equipped it with extremely strong firepower, clamoring to be able to defend for at least half a month, but under the fierce offensive of the 74th Regiment of the 25th Division of the 9th Column of the East China Field Army, it was completely collapsed after only one night of support. Wang Yaowu was very furious about this and shot the battalion commander of the defending army, and took the main force transferred to the western suburbs to reinforce, the 19th Brigade, back to the eastern suburbs, and personally supervised the battle, counterattacked wildly, vowing to regain the position of Maoling Mountain. The leader of our 9th Column decided to fight against one's teeth, attack against one's attack, and resolutely push the front west.

At 10 o'clock the morning of the day when Maoling Mountain was captured, I, who was the deputy company commander of the 8th Company of the 3rd Battalion of the 74th Regiment, and the commanders of the entire battalion and above followed the regiment commander and political commissar, braved the enemy's counterattack artillery fire and climbed the Maoling Mountain in secret. At this time, the smoke filled the mountain, covered with bullet craters, and the bodies and broken limbs of the dead people on both sides and discarded weapons and equipment were everywhere.

We lay in the cover and looked westward. The terrain was relatively open and Jinan City was unobstructed. The only way to the city is to pass between Dianliuzhuang and Majiazhuang, which are large and small, are covered with mother-child forts of all sizes. Most of these mother-child forts are steel and concrete structures, which are very strong. The firing boundaries between the forts are connected to each other, forming a cross-fire network. Under the condition that our army lacked heavy weapons at that time, it often cost a lot to deal with such a mother-child fort on the open ground.

I found that there are three ring-shaped defensive positions composed of mother-child forts at the foot of the mountain leading to Majiazhuang. Each mother-child fortress is spaced more than 200 meters apart. We call it No. 11, 12 and 13 respectively. Among them, No. 11, the largest one, and is located in the middle and is in front of the center. It consists of four sub-forts, east, south, west and north. Each sub-fort is seventy or eighty meters apart and is connected by an earth dam more than one meter high. There are many single bunkers dug from the earth dam. From a distance, it looks like an earthen enclosure . After the enemy dug the soil and built a dam, a circle of trenches formed outside the soil enclosure. It was more than one person deep, with water accumulation in the ditch, and barbed wire and deer fort outside the ditch. Because we are on the mountain, we can see that there is a large mother fort with multiple perforations in the center of the earthen wall. Since joining the army, I have experienced dozens of battles of all sizes and big ones, but this is the first time I have fought such a complex mother-child fortress position. I think this battle requires not only courage, but also tricks. You must attack them and win by surprise in order to work.

The enemy seemed to have noticed our actions, and the artillery fire was even more urgent. We had no choice but to hide in a large bunker made of steel and concrete. When we went in, we found that it was very spacious. The regiment commander Wang Jingkun said happily, "It's good here, my command post is here." Then he said, "The battle in Maoling Mountain, the 1st and 2nd Battalions fought very well. If you attack these mother-in-laws at the foot of the mountain, it depends on your 3rd Battalion."

The regiment political commissar Sun Ziyu said, "These mother-in-laws are hard bones, you must be fully prepared. No matter how difficult it is, you must take it down for me to capture Wang Yaowu alive in order to enter Jinan Prefecture . Breaking a road."

Captain Wang pointed at me at last and said with great confidence: "Fu Xifeng, you have led the commando team many times and have experience. This time, I will let you take the lead! How about it?" I answered without hesitation: "No problem!"

As the main attacking company, our 8th Company was tasked with attacking the No. 11 sub-master. That afternoon, we drove secretly to Yaojiazhuang with the heavy machine gun platoon and the 60th mortar platoon in the battalion. We also had a nice meal of meat buns for dinner. That day happened to be August 15th, and the Mid-Autumn Festival caused the soldiers to miss their hometown and their relatives. Especially when everyone talked about the land they had divided, they were particularly excited, talking and laughing, and seemed to have forgotten the fierce battle they were facing.

After dinner, our company and platoon cadres studied the attack plan together and decided: Chen Mengyun, the third platoon leader, led the platoon to attack from the east of the mother-master, and attacked from the side; the company commander and instructor led the second platoon as the reserve team, the mortar platoon (3 60 guns) was responsible for cover, and the two Browning water-cooled heavy machine guns of the platoon of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoons of platoon I carefully checked the weapons, equipment and disguise of each soldier, and asked everyone to tie their clothes tightly to avoid making noises when they catch the enemy. He emphasized that if someone is injured, he will not be able to speak even if he is in pain. He also asked each person to bring more grenades and so that he can fight grenades and fight hand-to-hand combat.

Although it is the Mid-Autumn night, the thick clouds cover the moon. tracer bomb occasionally crosses the night sky, and explosions from near to far come one after another. At 10 o'clock in the evening, under the cover of night, we quietly headed towards the enemy's mother-child fortress position, traveled more than three miles and arrived in a dry riverbed. At this time, we were more than 1,000 meters away from the mother-child fortress No. 11. The company commander said to me and the third platoon leader: "I will stay here with the second platoon and the mortar platoon, responsible for cover and support, you will go forward separately." I turned around and waved my hand. A row of soldiers followed me along the riverbed for more than 300 meters northward, then climbed the river cliff and rushed straight west. The enemies in the mother-child castle blindly shoot a few points every few minutes. Sometimes bullets brush our bodies and make "puff" sounds on the surrounding ground, but no one cares about it, and only thinks about approaching the enemy castle and destroying the enemy.

On the way, we gradually slowed down to reduce the sound of the march, and later we turned to slowly touching forward with our waists. When we were more than 60 meters away from the enemy fort, I ordered the light and heavy machine gunners to choose the terrain here and set up the machine gun ; squads 1 and 3 are in front, and squads 2 are later, and crawling towards the enemy fort in an inverted triangle formation. With the faint moonlight that was sometimes seen through the clouds, the enemy fort was vaguely visible. I led the second squad to climb forward, and I had to lean forward even further until we stopped when we were more than 30 meters away from the enemy fort. At this time, I was also very nervous, and beads of sweat as big as beans flowed down my cheeks. It can be said that we had touched the enemy's nose. With just one sprint, we could take down the sub-castle in the north. However, if we were not careful and made any slight sound, we might expose the target in advance, and the consequences would be unimaginable.

Amid anxious waiting, a red signal flare rose into the air, and then the guns and cannons from both sides of the enemy and us were loudly heard. My first and third rows launched an attack from both east and north at the same time. The enemy fort seemed to be a wild beast that suddenly woke up, roaring wildly, but it was sometimes suppressed by the fire of the machine gun I approached from time to time.

Jiadong soldier Li Mengxiang (a special meritorious official who died in Huaihai Battle in December 1948) clamped a pack of explosives with his arms, rushed out in one step, quickly approached the enemy fort, turned over and rolled into the trench in front of the enemy fort. A few seconds later, accompanied by a dazzling flash, the huge explosion shocked me, who was thirty meters away, and the machine gun in the enemy castle immediately became hoarse. I raised the wrench gun and shouted: "Go!" We rushed to the ground of the earth dam. As soon as the two soldiers in front climbed up on the ladder, they were hit by the enemy hidden in the shelter with submachine gun and fell down.

Seeing this, I immediately led everyone to throw dozens of grenades up, and the earth dam was immediately like a pot was opened. After a dense explosion, we set up the ladder again, bravely climbed the earth dam, and jumped into the siege one by one. Squad 1 and 3 expanded to the left and right sides of the enemy fort respectively, and I led the soldiers of the second squad rush into the enemy fort. I shone with a flashlight and found seven or eight enemy soldiers who were tilted around, bleeding from their mouths and noses. There were several ropes on the ground that extended outside the perforation hole. I sent a soldier out to check and found two huge mines, each with more than 30 kilograms. The place happened to be where I led everyone to hide. Perhaps the enemy was shocked by our explosives before we could pull the fire.

The enemy in the mother castle found that we had occupied the sub-fort in the north, so he concentrated his firepower to shoot at us. Li Mengxiang, covered in blood, grabbed another explosive pack and wanted to explode it again. Xiao Zhang, a new soldier who was liberated in Menglianggu Battle, snatched the explosive pack and said, "Look at me!" Then he turned over and rolled a few times, then crawled towards the enemy fort. The bullets fired by the enemy raised rows of dust around Xiao Zhang. Xiao Zhang sometimes rolled, sometimes covered, sometimes crawled, sometimes stood up and rushed towards the enemy fort tenaciously. I was so anxious that I shouted: "Cover the firepower, and fight hard!"

"Boom", the explosive pack that Xiao Zhang sent on it finally rang. All the soldiers of the platoon rushed forward and shouted: "Don't kill the gun! Do not kill the gun!" Under the threat of submachine guns and grenades, the enemy was driven out of the bunker one by one. After counting, there were more than 30 people, including the enemy defender company commander.

I walked into the enemy fort and saw a phone call on the ammunition box. When I caught it, I kept shouting inside: "Hold on! Hold on! Reinforcements will arrive soon..." I immediately replied: "I am the People's Liberation Army brought by Commander Xu! Come on, I am waiting for you here!"

At this time, the sub-fort in the east was also defeated under the attack of my first and third rows inside and outside, but because the third row was far away from the enemy when it launched the attack, it paid a large price, and more than 20 casualties were injured and killed. The defending enemies in West Fort were so scared that they surrendered, and only more than 10 enemies in South Fort fled to Majiazhuang. The second platoon serving as the reserve team and the mortar platoon responsible for cover took the plane to occupy Nanbao and Xibao. The instructor came to the mother fort and said to me: "Company Commander Song was hit by the shells shot from Majiazhuang and was seriously injured. He has been sent to Health Team . The battalion commander designated you to be the company commander and be responsible for organizing defense. You must withstand the enemy's counterattack."

Majiazhuang is located south of the No. 11 child mother fortress position we occupied, only five or six hundred meters away. The enemy has at least one reinforcement battalion. I judged that the enemy is likely to launch a counterattack from the south, so I focused my defense on Nanbao and surrounding positions.

I took a few soldiers and carried the six Canadian machine guns I had just seized, and selected a few more prisoners, carried the ammunition, and went to South Fort together. After walking a few steps, I suddenly heard a sharp whistling sound from the air. I hurriedly turned around and shouted, "Let's go down!" Before I could even lie down, I was overturned by a wave of air.

correspondent Ma Hengshen (East China Level 3 People's Hero , later served as director of the Shandong Provincial Aging Office) dragged me back to the bunker and found that a big hole in my right arm was torn open, and blood kept pouring out, so he hurriedly bandaged me. I felt that my right arm was no longer in control and knew that my bones were damaged, so I asked Xiaoma to fix it with splint . Because I was thinking that the enemy might take advantage of my foothold and fight back, I kept urging him: "Hurry, hurry up!"

When I arrived at South Fort, I saw the soldiers transforming the fortifications, turning the shooting direction, and facing the west and south directions. It was not until dawn that the enemy bombarded me fiercely again. Through the smoke, I looked through the smoke and saw one or two hundred enemies coming from the direction of Majiazhuang, with their scattered troops slowly approaching.

I couldn't help but be amused by Wang Yaowu's so-called ace army's offensive tactics: "When attacking the position of the mother-in-law in broad daylight, wouldn't it be a death?" When the enemy was only about 100 meters away from us, more than ten machine guns suddenly opened fire, and the enemy rushing in front was immediately knocked down.

Although our machine gunners continued to suffer casualties under the bombardment of enemy artillery fire, the soldiers continued to pick up the machine guns one by one, killing the enemy without getting close. After nearly an hour of stalemate, I saw that the enemy's attack formation was in chaos and had become a bump in several ditches. I seized the opportunity to strengthen the 60 cannons in my company that were bombarded at the dense enemy and the supervision team behind. Now the enemy finally couldn't hold on and retreated in a mess. From then on, the enemies of Majiazhuang never dared to come out again. 12. The enemy of the No. 13-Child Fort was so scared that he gave up his position and fled into Majiazhuang. That night, our 74th Regiment launched an attack on Majiazhuang and wiped out the defending enemy.

After the war, the leaders of all levels highly praised our 8th Company. Commander Liu Jinghai of the 25th Division said: "The 8th Company of the 74th Regiment used two packs of explosives to snatch Wang Yaowu's 'eyes', and he deserved to be the 'Eighth Company' that is both wise and brave."

2, Nianzhuang's peripheral ambush in the Huaihai Battle

In November 1948, the 9th Column of the East China Field Army and the brothers together surrounded Huang Botao's 7th Corps in more than 50 villages near Nianzhuang to the east of Xuzhou . On the night of the 12th, the 74th Regiment of our 25th Division was ordered to attack Nianzhuang Railway Station from south to north, which was defended by an enemy regiment. More than 600 meters north of Nianzhuang Railway Station, there is a small village called "Qianbanqiao", which is the enemy's frontier position. The defending troops are a battalion, which is the 3rd Battalion of our regiment.

This time the group sent us the 8th Company mission again. After dark, I ordered me to hide and lurk between Qianbanqiao and Nianzhuang to cut off the connection between the two enemy troops. Commander Zhang Chen instructed: "The 8th Company faces an enemy from both sides in carrying out this mission. You must be like a gate. Whether it is the front board bridge, the enemy from Nianzhuang, or the enemy from both sides attacking, they must be strangled to me." Political Commissar Sun Ziyu also confessed: "There are many troops now, and we must capture as many prisoners as possible during the battle so that our army can be supplemented by education." In response, the instructor Li Fuhai and I organized the entire company to communicate and study.

The war is imminent, and both the enemy and our army are nervously preparing for the pre-war, and a brief silence appears on the battlefield. It was about ten o'clock in the evening, and the earth shrouded in the night seemed particularly quiet. I set off with the team covered in the cold moonlight that appeared and disappeared. The sparse ice crystals and snow fell gently along the way, and occasionally bursts of dog barking came from the village.

I bypassed Qianbanqiao and about two or three hundred meters away from Nianzhuang Railway Station, I found a relatively wide terrain, which was the only place from Nianzhuang Railway Station to Qianbanqiao, so I decided to set up an ambush here. I ordered the troops to stop advancing, unfold on the spot, and each chose terrain and lands to build simple fortifications.

After the deployment, I felt a little sluggish. I was about to take a nap when I suddenly heard the rustling on the frozen road surface and the footsteps were approaching from a distance. I immediately became alert. Under the hazy moonlight, I looked in the sound and vaguely saw three people walking towards Nianzhuang. The front and back were wearing helmets and , with a submachine gun on his shoulders, protecting a big man in the middle. The man wore a big cap and a short American coat. He was an officer.

I made a gesture, and several soldiers around me touched them quietly, then rushed to them, pounced on them with a bayonet, and whispered: "Stop the gun and don't kill them!" Then they fired their guns. The prisoners were taken to me and I asked them what they were? Where to go? The two soldiers only said that they were orderly soldiers and escorted the adjutant to Qianbanqiao. They didn't know what they were doing. The adjutant glanced at me, said a few words of southern dialect that he couldn't understand, and then stopped talking.

I took a piece of paper from the adjutant and said to the clerk in the company: "Scholar, come and see what this is?" The clerk leaned down, looked at the flashlight for a while, and said to me: "This is an order to ask the enemy troops in Qianbanqiao to withdraw to Nianzhuang Station." I thought to myself, "It's such a coincidence. If we didn't catch the three of them, our 3rd battalion would be empty after a while." I called the health officer Xiao Zhang and ordered, "Help the clerk to take the three of them to me, and send them to the regiment headquarters tomorrow. Communication officer, you go with me to take a look at the positions of each squad and platoon."

Just turned around and walked a few steps, I heard a "wow" scream behind me. I was shocked and looked back and saw the clerk facing up, covering his face with his hands, and kicking his feet in pain, while the enemy adjutant ran towards Banqiao without any chance.

I didn't have anything to think about at that time, and jumped forward and chased him! That guy was wearing big leather shoes, so where could he pass by me? I only chased after 20 or 30 meters, and I grabbed the back of my neck. I said angrily, "Come back to me!" Then, I made a fucking boy and wanted to pull him to the ground. But he suddenly turned over and used a backlash, breaking free from my hand.

When I saw that he was not honest, I pulled out my gun and shouted loudly: "What? Are you looking for death!" He seemed to take two steps back in fear, then jumped up suddenly and kicked over. Because I was not prepared, I was hit hard on my chest, staggered back a few steps, and fell on the snow.

Looking at the adjutant again, he had already rushed out more than thirty steps and was about to disappear into the darkness of the night. I just felt a burst of anger hitting my head, and my eyes were filled with stars. He was so angry that he cursed: "You beast! I'll let you run!" He raised his hand and pulled the trigger. With the sound of a gunshot, the guy fell down. At this moment, I immediately realized that I shouldn't have fired, and I was worried that my company's ambush operation would be exposed.

Communicator Jiang Yongzheng then chased after him and asked anxiously, "Company Commander, what's wrong with you?" I replied, "It's okay! Go and take a look, that guy must have asked me to beat me. If he is still angry, drag it back and ask the sanitary to deal with him. I want to ask him for a question!" I rubbed my chest, took a deep breath, and got up and went back to check the injury of the document.

Hurried to the documentary, the health clerk Xiao Zhang said to me, "That guy is so cruel that he has discounted the bridge of our scholar's nose." I said angrily, "What are you doing for? You're so big?" Xiao Zhang said aggrievedly, "I'm not prepared." The two prisoners were furious and trembled with fear when they saw me angry. Xiao Zhang said to them, "Don't be afraid, it's not your business. The People's Liberation Army never abuses prisoners." He also said, "The wreck gun in my company commander can penetrate Yang a hundred steps. You officials still want to be sloppy here, that's asking for death!"

At this time, the communicator came back and said breathlessly, "That guy was shot in the back. I turned him over, and the blood was gushing and rolled his eyes. He rolled his eyes and couldn't die."

The two captive soldiers looked at each other and said to me timidly: "That adjutant is the martial arts coach in the regiment. He often bullies his brothers with all his skills. Today's fate is also his retribution!" After hearing this, I said with some dissatisfaction: "If it weren't for the injury of Jinan, my arm was injured, and I have not yet recovered. Even if I fight empty-handed, I wouldn't lose to him."

In the middle of the night, fierce guns and cannons sounded in the direction of the front board bridge. About half an hour later, the enemy from Qian Banqiao retreated in a raucous manner. Seeing this, I ordered the number officer to blow the charge and immediately led the company to attack head-on. The enemies were all shocked and raised their hands to surrender. We captured more than 70 prisoners in one go.

After dawn, when we brought the prisoners to the camp, we counted one after another and became more than one hundred and twenty. After inquiry, I learned that some of the broken enemies secretly joined in when they saw the captive team we were escorting. One of the prisoners said, "Actually, I have wanted to 'liberate' for a long time, and I only had this opportunity today." I couldn't help laughing after hearing this.

At this time, I felt a tightness in my chest, and it hurts faintly when I inhale, so I coughed hard, and a large mouthful of salty blood foam was spit out. Relying on my youth and strength, I didn't say a word. Because I feel in my heart: The loss I suffered today is a bit too cowardly! If it is spread, I can't afford to lose this person!

3, Shanghai Battle Urban Battle

1949 crossing the river to fight , our 27th Army 8th Company has always been the advance team to chase southward, and the battle along the way was unstoppable, which was very easy. We often capture the enemy in the entire company and battalion. Most of the weapons in the hands of the soldiers were replaced with American submachine guns and carbine . The morale was very high. As the company commander, I have also received continuous commendation and commendation.

On May 16, we unexpectedly received an order to stop the pursuit and were ordered to enter Sheshan Village in Qingpu District, western suburbs of Shanghai for training. The rectification was mainly about learning policies and disciplines, and the training was mainly about practicing water network combat and street combat. All this is to prepare for the liberation of Shanghai.

It was the yellow plum season at that time, and we slept in the open in continuous rain and strokes, and we were wet all day long.In order to facilitate movement in the mud, everyone simply took off their shoes, rolled up their trousers, and crawled barefoot with barefoot. Seeing the wounds of many soldiers being soaked in mud and water, I felt both distressed and annoyed, and kept cursing the "mold" ghost weather.

23 On the evening of the night of 23, we finally waited for the order to attack. I immediately led the 8th Company soldiers who had already been holding back their energy through the gaps in the enemy's fortification positions under the cover of the night and rushed straight to Shanghai. At dawn, my company rushed to Beixinjing Town and quickly launched an attack.

We broke through the enemy's defense line for the first time. We did not fight with the defending enemy to fight each other, but instead interspersed with courage and circled around tactics, making the defending enemy at a loss. In just half an hour, we defeated the enemy's security group . Not only did we capture more than 30 prisoners, but we even more overjoyed that we intercepted 12 enemy supplies ships and seized a large number of white flour and pork. Now that I have so many delicious foods, I am determined to share them with the poor people, and immediately decided to give all the remaining food and pork after the supplementary supplies to the local people. Seeing my soldiers happily distribute food and meat to the people, I felt really happy.

25 On the evening of the 25th, the regiment commander ordered our company to go north from Tibet Road to "cross" Suzhou River to eliminate the enemy that was fighting against the north bank. At the same time, we are strictly ordered not to fire artillery or release explosives during battle. We must pay attention to protecting the safety of urban buildings and citizens. Violators will be dealt with strictly!

At around 1 o'clock in the evening, under the guidance of the Shanghai underground party organization, we quickly walked through the small alley, turned around and entered Tibet Road. Unexpectedly, the wide road was brightly lit at this time, with tall buildings on both sides, but no pedestrians or vehicles were seen.

In order to prevent the enemy from being cold, I asked the team to distance themselves along the wall. The squads alternately guarded each other and marched northward. When they arrived at the riverside, they found that the Suzhou River was very different from the river we imagined. The dark river surface is sparkling under the sparse lights. Although the width is only about fifty meters, the river water is deep. The two banks are vertical stone embankments, more than one meter above the water surface, and it is impossible to rush in. The other side is full of tall buildings, and there are countless windows that are fired from time to time. There are several armored vehicles downstairs, patrolling "bang, boom" while spitting out flames. It is said that these enemies are the so-called "trump card" guarding Shanghai - the newly formed youth army by Tang Enbo.

I discussed with instructor Li Fuhai and thought I could only find a bridge to rush over. Although the enemy on the other side has strong firepower and the terrain is easy to defend and difficult to attack, we are still full of confidence. Because our 27th Army was invincible in previous battles, it was because of a large number of warriors who were good at night and dared to fight hand-to-hand combat. My 8th Company has long used the special skills of our troops - the night attack tactics of attacking the night attack tactics.

We secretly approached a wide bridge, and the guide said it was the "Nicheng Bridge". I took the company into the warehouse at the nearby wharf and had a short rest, preparing to rush across the bridge before dawn. After observing the terrain and land, I ordered the two "Canadian" light machine guns in my company to be installed on the second floor of the warehouse to be responsible for cover. Although Huang Yunfei, the commander of the machine gun squad, was a "liberation warrior", but he was very brave in combat and had rich combat experience. Especially, he had good eyesight and quick moves, and had proper control of long and short shots. He often used a machine gun to suppress several firepower points of the opponent, which was deeply trusted by me. While adjusting the position of the machine gun, he said to me, "Company Commander, don't worry. I have seen several firepower points of the enemy on the other side. After you have ordered, I will immediately call them mute."

I saw many wooden boxes with foreign codes piled up in the warehouse. I was curious, so I asked the soldiers to pry open a box with bayonets and found that there were brand new raincoats inside. These grass-green raincoats are smooth to the touch, soft, and very light and physical. This is a rare good thing for the soldiers who have marched and fought in the rain all day recently. So I immediately decided to take out six of them and let the soldiers with wounded and sick bodies wear them. Correspondent Jiang Yong reminded me on the side: "Company Commander, will you make a mistake?" I glared at him and shouted, "This is military supplies. You don't understand, stop talking nonsense!"

Suddenly, there was a clamor outside the door. I was about to question, but our battalion instructor Wang Hong walked upstairs with a big man with a beard. I only saw clearly that this big man was a foreigner but could speak Chinese. He shouted loudly, "We're done, you're done too!" As he said that, he pulled me to the window, pointed to a huge circular object dozens of meters tall near the north of the warehouse, and said bluntly, "This big iron tower contains all gas (gas). If the bullets hit, a big explosion will occur, which is even more powerful than yellow explosives!" The instructor of

said to me, "He is an engineer of this gas company, and what he said may make sense." At this time, I felt the problem was serious, so I had to decide to withdraw the team and look for other attack points. We walked west along the river and arrived at Wuzhen Road and found another bridge. It was already dawn at this time, and you could clearly see that there were a row of black two or three floors across the river. Among them, a four-story reinforced concrete building on the front right is quite prominent, with four eye-catching big words on it - " Sihang Warehouse "! The enemy set a lot of firepower points inside, and the bullets shot to hit the bridge deck and sparks splashed everywhere.

As the attack time was delayed, we lost the cover of night. With the tall buildings on the north shore, the enemy troops weave a dense firepower net with light and heavy machine guns from a high place. It seems that the raid cannot be fought, so I can only attack hard! In order to make up for my lack of cover firepower, I asked the veteran soldier in the company to replace the "Type 38" rifle with high shooting accuracy, and specifically sniping the enemy's machine gunner. The second squad was transferred up again, which was a suicide squad composed of more than 10 capable Tom-style submachine guns. I asked them to launch a strong attack under limited firepower cover to open a bloody road for the entire series of kills.

After the suicide squad members of my company crawled onto the bridge, they were completely exposed to the almost uncovered bridge deck, and were unable to lift their heads up by the enemy's firepower, and there were constant casualties. Seeing the attack of my death squad was frustrated and the blood stained the bridge deck red, I was anxious, "A cannon, cannon, if there is direct aiming artillery support at this time, we can immediately kill the other side, but the superiors are not allowed to use cannons to attack, alas!..."

At his helplessness, the sound of a grenade explosion on the left side of the other side suddenly rose, and smoke rose. I looked through the telescope and found that the 7th Company, which was fighting side by side with me, had already broken through from the left wing under the leadership of Instructor Chi Haotian. I know that comrades who were the first to break through the enemy's defense line are most likely to encounter crazy counterattacks by the enemy at this time, and the situation is urgent. Without further ado! I immediately jumped up, raised my wreck gun, and shouted: "Follow me!" I led all the soldiers of the company to rush up to the bridge regardless of everything.

The bridge deck bounced like rain, and we all followed one by one, like a whirlwind rushing tenaciously towards the north shore. When I rushed across the bridgehead on the other side, I was about to fall into a corner of the wall, I heard someone falling heavily on the bridge and shouted, "Company Commander..." I looked back and saw that the sanitation officer (Xiao Zhang) around me had been shot several times from Jiaodong and fell into a pool of blood. Xiao Zhang is a tall man with strong body. He has carried his injured comrades from the fire many times in the rain of bullets and has saved the lives of many comrades, made many military achievements, and is deeply loved by his comrades. Unexpectedly, he died on the eve of the country's successful liberation.

The soldiers were all angry! No one cares about danger. Whenever he sees a window with a perforation, he rushes forward and stuffs grenades into it. He then pounds sandbags, bricks and other covers, and jumps into the window and breaks into the door, and sweeps with a submachine gun. I commanded the first and second platoons to quickly spread to the two wings, and the third platoons to develop in depth, expanding the breakthrough; I led the machine gun squad to guard the bridgehead to prevent the enemy from counterattacking. Under the repeated attacks of my soldiers, the enemy could no longer stand it and was driven out of the building one by one by one by me, fleeing everywhere in a mess.

At this time, I saw another brother company in Qiaonan about to arrive, so I gathered the team to continue to penetrate the northeast. We fought and advanced for more than 500 meters. We found a large iron door surrounded by high walls. We saw a sign of "Shanghai District Court" hanging on it. A large-caliber machine gun poked out from the small window on the door, and frantically shot out. There is a gray 8-storey building in the courtyard, and the enemies upstairs are constantly firing cold guns using various windows. I speculated that this might be an important mechanism for the enemy, so I decided to destroy the enemy inside. The soldier wanted to climb over the wall, but as soon as he climbed up the wall, he was hit by enemy fire and fell down from the wall one after another. In a blink of an eye, we suffered several more soldiers.

What to do? I made up my mind and took the initiative! I shouted to the 8th squad leader, "Xiao Ma, why are you still standing there? Put explosives!" Although 8th squad leader Ma Hengshen was very good at blasting, he could not guarantee the safety of the surrounding buildings, so he said to me, "Company Commander, I am not afraid of death. I really prohibited the release of explosives in the city, you don't know!" I inserted the squad gun to my waist, and pulled the soldier carrying the explosives bag over, and while untiing the explosives bag, he said, "Can the lives of comrades not match this broken house? You don't dare to put them, I will put them myself, I will sacrifice my life today!" 8th squad leader quickly snatched the explosives bag from me and said, "Then I'll go." He quickly placed the explosives bag under the big iron gate and pulled the fire. With a loud "boom", the iron door shattered, and an armored vehicle that was pressed behind the door was overturned for more than ten meters. Before the smoke of gunpowder had spread, I took the opportunity to enter and quickly occupied the ground floor of the building.

Because this was the only big explosion in the city, the enemy upstairs was completely frightened and shouted loudly, "Don't put explosives, don't put explosives anymore, we are going to revolt." The instructor said, "It cannot be considered their uprising, at most it can only be considered surrender." I shouted impatiently, "What uprising does not count, I don't want to say anything, I will just take over the gun first, otherwise I will put explosives!" The enemy had to throw the guns downstairs one after another. We captured a battalion of enemies in this building, with a total of more than 400 people, including a colonel brigade commander and two major adjutants.

After that, the gunshots gradually subsided, and all the enemies on the north bank of the Suzhou River gave up their resistance. When summarizing this battle, the superiors recorded first-class merit for us for 8 consecutive times. The leader of the regiment commented that I have three advantages: one is brave in combat, the second is hard-working, and the third is to protect the soldiers. But I thought I had distributed the food without asking for instructions and took a raincoat, especially when I disobeyed military orders and put a pack of explosives, which was also very serious. Therefore, I decided to "destroy my merits and commit crimes" without rewarding or punishing me, so I canceled my qualification to declare a combat hero for me. I didn't care about this, and thought to myself: "In the future, as long as I am still allowed to lead the commando team, there will be big battles and tough battles!" But there is only one thing that made me unable to understand at that time: "Why don't you allow the poor to share food? Then why should I join the revolution?" (Compiled/Liushui Xingyun)
