Around 5 a.m. on December 17, 1970, it was the darkest time before dawn, and it was also the time when many people were most relaxed in defense. A few gunshots suddenly came from the courtyard of Kunming, Yunnan.

The sentry on duty reacted first and followed the gunshot to the residence of the Military Region Political Commissar Tan Furen.

The cadres on duty also rushed over and opened the door where the chief lived, and after they opened the door to the head, they took a breath.

I saw Tan Furen wearing pajamas and lying on the patio of the yard. There was still a pile of blood underneath. Wang Liyan, the wife of Tan Furen in the second floor bedroom, was shot in the middle of the eyebrows and fell on the sofa in the bedroom.

The two guards on duty, one of whom was still sleeping, knocked on the door for a long time before calling out the person, and the other one stuck his head out of the toilet on the first floor until the military district leader came.

After the news was sent back to the central government, Premier Zhou, who had always been gentle, suddenly got angry: This is the worst guard since the founding of the People's Republic of China!

It is indeed a dereliction of duty by the guards without protecting the chief, but can just a "debt of duty" make Premier Zhou so angry?

1. What are the guards doing when the chief is attacked?

The political commissar of the military region was shot at his residence. The matter was extraordinary. The leaders of the Kunming Military Region who rushed over and rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, and then reported the news to the State Council and the Central Military Commission.

After receiving the report, Premier Zhou immediately issued instructions to urgently allocate experts from Beijing to Kunming to participate in the rescue. He also appointed Zhou Xing, deputy political commissar of the Yunnan Military Region, to form a special task force to work with the Ministry of Public Security to solve the case and arrest the murderer.

Wang Liyan was shot in the middle of his eyebrows and could not be rescued. The medical staff worked hard until 12 o'clock that day, but failed to rescue Comrade Tan Furen.

The Tan Furen case is the first case of assassination of a senior general since the founding of the People's Republic of China. It also involves some political factors. Only by solving the case as soon as possible can the malicious speculation of the outside world be eliminated.

So after the task force was established, Zhou Xing immediately held the first special project meeting to discuss the case with the members of the task force and assign tasks.

Because Political Commissar Tan and his wife died of guns, the inspection and investigation were conducted simultaneously with on-site investigation and visits, which was to inspect guns in the entire military region.

9 days later, the inspection of the guns was achieved: Wang Qinghe, deputy minister of the Ministry of Security, lost two Type 59 pistols and 20 bullets, and the gun was still lost in the safe.

The door lock of the safe room has no sign of prying open, and the lock of the safe has not been artificially damaged, so this can only be a crime by the internal thief.

Another group of on-site investigation personnel also roughly inferred the entire process of the incident.

On the day of the incident, after the murderer flipped into the yard, he walked straight to Tan Furen's bedroom on the second floor. After knocking on the door, it was Tan Furen's wife Wang Liyan who opened the door.

The murderer holding a pistol had loaded the bullet. After seeing Wang Liyan open the door, he immediately pointed the gun at her and asked Tan Furen where he was.

Seeing that Wang Liyan refused to tell where Tan Furen was, the angry murderer forced Wang Liyan to the sofa, pressed the gun against her forehead, and then pulled the trigger.

After the gunshot was fired, Tan Furen, who lived next door, was alarmed. He hurried out of the room to check the situation, but the murderer was behind him at this time.

The murderer originally planned to escape immediately after shooting, but who knew that Tan Furen was looking for came to him. The overjoyed murderer immediately followed Tan Furen to the first floor.

Tan Furen went to the first floor and originally wanted to meet with the guard on duty on the first floor. Unexpectedly, after going downstairs, the guard did not see it, but was caught by the murderer.

Seeing that the situation was not good, Tan Furen immediately ran to the gate, and the murderer's gunshots rang again at this time. Tan Furen, who was shot twice, fell to the courtyard in the courtyard.

The murderer jumped over the wall and disappeared into the vast night.

According to the standards, Tan Furen was equipped with 5 guards. At the time of the incident, 3 guards participated in training and 2 guards were on duty at his residence.

After the gunshots, even the sentries ran over. Why didn’t the guards in the room appear immediately? What are they doing?

2. One is afraid of death, the other is affair

. As the guard who was in the same room as the murderer and the victim at the time of the incident, the investigators will naturally not forget to investigate them.

is just a survey result but is surprising.

Two guards who were responsible for protecting the chief, after the gunshots, one of the guards was so scared that they couldn't put on their pants, so they simply hid in the room and pretended to be asleep without any concern for the chief's safety.

Another "Xiao Li", who is only 18 years old, hooked up with a nanny who is more than 30 years older than him in the military compound. When the incident happened, the two were fooling around in the room downstairs.

The gunshots sounded, and the two who were fooling around were so scared that they were so scared that they thought the matter had been broken, so they hid in the room and dared not come out.

When the military leaders came in, Li Hongliang took the nanny to the toilet and hid it, and he came out from there as well.

Two guards, one is afraid of death, and the other is afraid of being knocked out of the affair. If they can appear at the first time, they will definitely be able to rescue General Tan Furen from the murderer.

So after hearing the report from the investigators, Premier Zhou was so angry because of the "debt of duty" of the two guards, and angrily criticized them as the worst guards since the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Guards will receive the punishment they deserve, and this also ruled out their suspicion of committing crimes, but who is the "inner thief" who committed the crime by stealing guns?

General Tan Furen's sixth sister, the wife of General Tan Furen, provided a key clue to the task force: the murderer is about 1.8 meters tall, slightly fat, and is about 40 years old.

It turned out that when the murderer was chasing Tan Furen, Liu Mei also heard the noise and walked out of the room, just behind the murderer, so she saw the general outline of the murderer, but could not recognize who the murderer was.

During the visit, a nanny living in the dormitory of the Military Region near the Propaganda Department also provided a clue. In the early morning of the 17th, she heard someone rumbling over the iron gate.

Following this clue, the investigators visited this direction and found the exact information of the suspect from a 13-year-old boy from the Family Court of the Political Department of the Military Region.

When this little boy named Ma Suhong was sleeping that day, the big wooden basin on the top of the door suddenly fell to the ground and woke him up. He turned on the electric light in a daze and saw a fat middle-aged man standing in the room.

Seeing that he woke up, the man asked Ma Suhong where Section Chief Chen Hansheng lives.

Although he thought the person asking for directions looked familiar at that time, he didn't think much about it. After taking the person to Chen Hansheng's doorstep, he went back to continue sleeping.

It was not until more than ten days later that Ma Suhong heard that there was a classmate named Wang Dongkun whose father was quarantined, and then suddenly remembered that the person who asked him for directions that day was Wang Dongkun's father Wang Zizheng!

Thinking of the instructors of the case handlers, Ma Suhong did not dare to delay and quickly told the case handlers who asked him that day.

The case handler took Wang Zizheng's photo and asked Ma Suhong to identify it. Ma Suhong insisted that the person in the photo was the person who asked him for directions that day.

The identity of the murderer is almost certain. Just as the case handlers were about to arrest the suspect, news suddenly came that Wang Zizheng actually committed suicide?

Is Wang Zizheng committing suicide for fear of guilt or is there another inside story?

3. The murderer Wang Zizheng

Wang Zijing has something unspeakable.

Wang Zizheng's original name is Wang Zhizheng. He is a native of Neihuang in Henan. He was born in a rich peasant. During the War of Liberation, he participated in the " Returning the Country " and shot and killed revolutionary comrades.

After the Kuomintang was defeated and fled, Wang Zhizheng also hid his name and changed it to "Wang Zizheng", sneaked into the revolutionary ranks and served in a border defense regiment.

Later, he disguised his identity and gained the trust of the army leaders. He quickly joined the party and promoted him. Later, he intervened in the Yunnan Military Region and served as a confidential officer and secretary of the Military Region Security Department. He was promoted to the deputy section chief of the Security Department in 1970.

Wang Zizheng is cunning by nature and rarely contacts his family when he was in the army. Even if he contacted him, he used a fake address. After and , he took his wife to the army and even broke off contact with his hometown.

The local people have thought about "clearing" this scum of the "returning home group". However, because of the wrong address, they are not in line with Wang Zizheng in the Yunnan Military Region, which has made him free for many years.

Later, with a try-and-see attitude, the people in his hometown wrote a letter of complaint to the Security Department of the Yunnan Provincial Revolutionary Committee. After the letter of complaint was transferred to the military region, it attracted the attention of the director of the Political Department.

In April 1970, the Military Region quarantined Wang Zizheng for review, and the review was carried out by Chief Chen Hanzhong of the Military Region Cadre Department and Minister Jing Rulin of the Security Department. This investigation took several months.

So when General Tan Furen was shot, Wang Zizheng should have been in quarantine in theory. How he stole a pistol and committed the crime was not mentioned yet. After the task force provided clues by the little boy Ma Suhong, Chen Hanzhong, who was guarding him, made a fatal mistake.

On December 31, the task force took Ma Suhong to the place where Wang Zizheng was isolated to make on-site confirmation. The time was originally set so that Wang Zizheng could not see Ma Suhong.

But Chen Hanzhong made his own decision and did not bring Ma Suhong in within the specified time. As a result, as soon as Ma Suhong came in, he met Wang Zizheng. The situation of

has not received the attention of the task force.

After Wang Zizheng ran into Ma Suhong, if the task force made a quick decision and controlled Wang Zizheng first, there would be no future happenings.

However, the task force knew that Wang Zizheng might have realized that he had been exposed, and according to the procedures set before, he was ready to extract Wang Zizheng's fingerprint and shoe print for comparison.

At this time, Wang Zizheng, who was already alert, heard Chen Hanzhong asking him to go out, so he deliberately asked Chen Hanzhong what shoes he wanted to wear.

Chen Hanzhong replied that he was wearing leather shoes. He realized that the Jiefang shoes he wore on the day of the crime might have other uses, so he deliberately sat by the bed and slowly tied his shoelaces.

Taking advantage of Chen Hansheng and another deputy section chief of the Security Department, Li Bozhi, inattention, Wang Zizheng suddenly took out a long-hidden gun from the quilt and fired a shot at Chen and Li.

Chen and Li were caught off guard. Li Bozhi was injured in his right hand, Chen Hanzhong's belly was scratched by a bullet, and Wang Zizheng took the opportunity to grab the door and exit.

The guards outside the room immediately chased after him. After Wang Zizheng ran out of the door, he was surrounded by a wall and raised a gun to commit suicide.

After other investigators extracted Wang Zizheng's shoe prints and fingerprints, they confirmed that the one who climbed over the wall and entered Tan Furen's house that day to carry out the shooting was Wang Zizheng.

The suspect has been confirmed. What needs to be understood next is Wang Zizheng's motive for the crime and how he escaped from the isolation and stole the gun to kill someone.

4. The counter-revolutionary elements retaliate against

. The gun used by Wang Zizheng to commit suicide was found in the initial review, which was one of the two Type 59 pistols he stole from the safe in the security department.

However, after extracting the data of this pistol, the investigators found that this was not the pistol that killed Comrade Tan Furen.

Another one was not found in the manure pile until people near the military region fertilized the vegetable fields in Kaichun. This one is the gun that Wang Zizheng used when he killed Tan Furen.

Wang Zizheng's motive for committing the crime was soon found in his diary.

It turns out that after Wang Zizheng was quarantined and investigated, he knew that he was in debt of blood. In despair, he decided to kill and retaliate.

In his diary, he listed the names of many military leaders, but after thinking about it, he felt that if he wanted to kill someone, he would kill a "big" person, so he set the target of the crime for General Tan Furen.

Since Wang Zizheng worked in the Security Department for many years and also managed guns, he had used bamboo to unlock the door lock, and he also knew the password of the safe where the guns were stored, so it was easy for Wang Zizheng to steal pistols and bullets from the Security Department.

The place where he was quarantined was only 50 meters away from his home. According to his son, Wang Zizheng had met his parents sleeping at home many times during the quarantine.

The case handlers also extracted Wang Zizheng's shoe prints and fingerprints from inside and outside the wall where Wang Zizheng was isolated. This is the route where Wang Zizheng escaped over the wall.

Although the isolation department had guards patrolling at night, for Wang Zizheng, who worked in the security department, it was not a problem to master their inspection routes and change of duty.

The person who changed the post used to turn out the isolation area and disguise the quilt as if someone was sleeping. Wang Zizheng used this method to hide from the sentinels and sneak into General Tan Furen's residence for assassination.

So far, the truth of the entire case was revealed. The only regrettable thing was that after Wang Zizheng was found out, the chief of the Yunnan Military Region Security Department, Wang Zizheng's immediate boss Jing Rulin, was borne by heavy psychological burden and then committed suicide.

Looking at the entire case, if General Tan Furen's two guards can take on their own responsibilities and come out to respond to Tan Furen as soon as possible, then General Tan, who has experienced many battles, will definitely not be guaranteed to win the murderer, at least he can save his life.

However, one of the two guards hid in the house and did not dare to speak, and the other was fooled by the nanny, causing the founding lieutenant general of the New China to be harmed by the slut. No wonder Premier Zhou was so angry.
