Today (October 9) is the 100th birthday of Lei Yongxiang, a veteran of the War of Resistance Against Japan in Hubei. He chose to give young people a special party class to spend this special day.
Before the party class began, under the witness of reporters, the 100-year-old Mr. Lei climbed up to the third floor with a cane with a cane.
Everyone gathered in the conference room on the third floor of Liujiaoting Street, Wuhan City. Speaking of the experience of the Anti-Japanese War, Lei Yongxiang seemed to have endless energy: "At that time, 40 of us had 40 knives, and facing the enemy was rushing!" Lei Yongxiang also picked up a mineral water bottle and crutch to simulate the process of making earth cannon under the harsh conditions of that year. Lei Yongxiang recalled: "The earth cannon with a tube of it was the best weapon at that time." When he was excited, he shouted with anger: "Roll!" The troops used such weapons to snatch back the village for the people.

"Comrades, revolution is not easy!" Lei Yongxiang said, "For 100 years, I have never regretted being a soldier, fighting, or bleeding. I see our motherland becoming stronger and stronger, and I feel extremely proud!"
Today, Lei Yongxiang brought a meaningful party class to young party members, and the party members also prepared a simple birthday ceremony for Lei Yongxiang. A young party member of the Party Branch of Hubei Radio and Television Integrated Media News Center spent 20 days and hand-drawn a 9.9-meter-long hero scroll with the theme of "Centenarian Veteran, Legendary Life", which records the life story of the legend of the legend of Lei Lao.

922 lunar calendar, Lei Yongxiang was born in a poor farmer's house in Leijiawan, Mulanhu Township, Huangpi, Wuhan. In the summer of 1941, the troops from the 1st Military Region of the Fifth Division of the New Fourth Army came to the village where Lei Yongxiang was stationed. When Lei Yongxiang was grazing cattle, he saw that the soldiers of the New Fourth Army were all energetic and enthusiastic, so he joined the army and became a correspondent of the spy communication squad of the 1st Military Division of the New Fourth Army.
Shortly after joining the army, Lei Yongxiang was sent to the chief as a guard for two years because of his outstanding performance. During this period, he became a glorious Communist Party member with his sincerity towards the cause of the Communist Party of China and has been a party member for 80 years.
Age 100 years old, and has been a party member for 80 years. In this life, Lei Yongxiang has been striving for the revolutionary cause. "I participated in the revolution in 1941 and fought more than 100 battles..." After joining the New Fourth Army at the age of 19, Lei Yongxiang followed the troops to fight guerrillas in Hubei and Henan, and has served as a correspondent, scout, guard and deputy platoon leader.
"I will never forget that on August 15, 1945, the 12th Regiment of the Fifth Division of the New Fourth Army where I was located was located in Shahe Village, Liuji Town, Dawu County. He was preparing to launch a night attack on more than 40 Japanese troops stationed in the town overnight. After we arrived in the afternoon, we suddenly received the news that Japan announced its surrender!" After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Lei Yongxiang especially loved to sing a song: "I am a soldier, from the common people, defeated the Japanese invaders..."
Soldiers are determined to smile and face life
00 battles, more than ten years of military career, leaving the elderly with more than a commemorative medal, but also a scar. In 1947, Lei Yongxiang was unfortunately shot and injured in his right leg when he followed his troops to break through in the Badongchuan Shiqiao area of Nanzhang County, Hubei Province. He was seriously injured and could not keep up with the troops and was arranged by the organization to recuperate at a fellow villager's home.48 days later, Lei Yongxiang's injuries improved slightly, but he lost contact with the troops.
Lei Yongxiang was recovering from his injuries while waiting for news from the troops. He hoped that the troops would pass by and he could join again. After waiting for a long time but no results, Lei Yongxiang accidentally learned about the liberation of his hometown! So Lei Yongxiang worked as a small worker along the way to make a living, while walking towards his hometown Huangpi . In early 1949, Lei Yongxiang, who had been walking 200 to 300 kilometers, finally returned to his hometown. When his family saw him, they burst into tears and thought he had already died on the battlefield.
After the founding of New China, Lei Yongxiang worked as the village chief in Mulan Township, Huangpi County, and then joined the 8th Brick Factory in Wuhan until retirement. During his decades of work, he has been named an advanced worker four times. During this period, he got married and had three children, but because of the difficult conditions, only one daughter survived.
Although a century of life has not been smooth sailing, the military career has brought Lei Yongxiang a firm attitude towards things and an optimistic personality. Now, he lives with his daughter, grandson and his family of 7 and four generations. His family says that the old man is the spiritual pillar of the family.
After retirement, Lei Yongxiang was often invited to go to military camps and primary and secondary schools to tell stories of the war of resistance to soldiers and students, inspiring young people not to forget history, to defend their country, study hard, and always have a patriotic heart. He said: "Young people should be motivated and go wherever they are difficult."
