The reason why the German grassroots team held 98k was generally explained (my personal opinion was in brackets):
1. G43 is generally handed over to senior non-commissioned officers such as deputy squad leader in the army, or to snipers/sharpshooters (both German is Scharfschütze). Many scholars believe that the Germans are worried that the semi-automatic rifle is too wasteful of bullets, especially for new recruits, they will instantly fire the magazine when they are nervous.
[If it is really for this reason, it would be a shame! Because a recruit cannot always be a recruit, any recruit will become more calm after experiencing two or three battles, and the more you survive, the more you will become more sophisticated. At the same time, although the G43 is a semi-automatic rifle, its accuracy is very good. If all German first-line infantry can replace the G43 and issue scope to the non-commissioned officers, the lethality will increase exponentially. 】
2. The German squad's firepower is centered on light machine guns. The armored grenadier squad has 2 machine guns. The ordinary infantry squad has 1 machine gun. Whether 1 or 2, the squad leader and the deputy squad leader are commanded by half of the squad, covering each other, attacking or retreating alternately.
[I also think this statement is very unreasonable. Even if the machine gun is the core firepower and the rifle is the secondary firepower, this does not hinder the upgrade of the rifle! Rifleman has to undertake tasks that machine gunners cannot afford, such as charge and clearance. The semi-automatic rifle is already the lowest configuration. The front-line troops have long realized that there is insufficient firepower, which is why they always see German soldiers holding Poposa. Anyone who has played the game knows that when facing the fast-moving enemy old fritters, using 98k to hit the spot is useless except to expose themselves. 】
Let’s see what the real situation looks like. First of all, it must be noted that the German army is not static and cannot be used to cover all troops with a template! Different years and even months change!
The following figure is the KStN 1114c(gp) compiled by the Armored Grenadier Company in November 1943. (gp) represents riding on the armored vehicle , which is one of the squads.
There are 8 people in the whole class: the squad leader uses submachine gun , the deputy squad leader uses a semi-automatic rifle, and the two machine gun groups have a total of 4 people (note that the deputy shooter is only equipped with a pistol), and there are only 2 rifle soldiers. The driver and commander of the armored vehicle do not participate in the get-off operation, and the vehicle carries a third machine gun and an bazooka .
The following figure is the KStN 1114b(gp)(fG) of the B-type armored grenade company in August 1944. Note the changes. The machine gun deputy shooter has also switched to rifles. The bazooka is no longer one per squad, but is used in a concentrated manner. The deputy squad leader's semi-automatic rifle has become a "rifleet equipped with scopes", which can be 98k or G43.
The following figure is the KStN 1114a(gp)(fG) compiled by the Type A Armored Grenadier Company in August 1944. There are only 2 platoons in the entire company of . All the infantrymen of all squads use StG44, and only one car-mounted machine gun.
The picture below is a motorized armored grenade company KStN 1114 in November 1943, has 11 people in the class, after all, trucks can be installed more. There is no change before, only the deputy squad leader has a semi-automatic rifle, but there are as many as 5 rifle soldiers (it would be great if all of them are replaced with semi-automatic ones). There is also a truck driver who carries a rocket launcher with him.
I just gave a few examples to prove that the compilation in different periods is different.
