As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine entered its fourth month, the battle finally took a qualitative turn. The Russian army not only captured Severodonetsk, but also quickly advanced towards Lisichansk across the river, and took the lead in encircling the local Ukrainian army. Before the fleeing Ukrainian army could take a breath, the Russian army launched another violent bombing on Kiev . Six bombers dropped dozens of heavy cruise missiles to various places, and explosions sounded one after another in Kiev. It is not difficult to see that the war seems to be spreading from Donbass to Ukraine capital. This makes Ukraine very panic. Losing Donbass is a huge failure. If Kiev falls again, the consequences will be disastrous.
And now that the battle is going on NATO should understand that no matter how much weapon assistance it sends, it will not be able to help Ukraine reverse the situation, but the United States still refuses to give up. Just recently, it made an exception and sent the NASAM system to the Ukrainian army. . This is an advanced 6-link medium and long-range air defense missile system jointly developed by the United States and Norway . It is improved on the basis of the US military AIM-120C7 air-to-air missile. The Chinese NASAM air defense system consists of an air radar vehicle, an electro-optical and infrared detection vehicle, a fire control command vehicle and a tactical control unit vehicle.
Each system has 9 launchers, which can accommodate 54 missiles at the same time, with a maximum range of up to 160 kilometers. Many NATO countries, including the United States, have deployed the NASAM air defense system, which shows that its strength has been recognized by NATO. This time, the United States purchased this system from Norway specifically for the Ukrainian army to help it deal with Russian fighter jets. It is likely to be deployed in Kiev or other targets in the future. At that time, NASAM will have a head-to-head confrontation with Russian fighter jets, and may even encounter the Su-57 formation. By then, Kiev will also stage a showdown between American and Russian equipment.
The editor has two opinions on this: First, if the United States sends Ukraine the NASAM air defense system and has a decisive battle with Russian equipment in Kiev, can it reverse the situation? At present, the Russian army has stepped up its air strikes against Ukraine. If the Ukrainian army can obtain advanced air defense missiles, it will definitely pose a huge threat to it. Previously, the Ukrainian army only had portable anti-aircraft missiles that were able to shoot down several Russian fighter jets. After acquiring NASAM, its air defense capabilities will be taken to a higher level. However, if the United States only assists a few units, it will not be able to reverse the situation. Unless it assists dozens of units at a time and can fly in a Russian fighter jet and shoot down one, it will not help.
Secondly, this move by the United States seems to have given the retreating Ukrainian army a "boost in the arms", but in fact it has pushed it into a deeper pit of fire, because the United States does not want the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to end now. Therefore, even if Kiev has been bombed, the Ukrainian army still has to fight hard. And the Ukrainian army, which is forced to continue fighting, will sooner or later embark on the road of no return where the country is completely divided. Although the "driver" has demanded an end to the conflict before the end of the year, will the United States listen? I'm afraid that they will interpret this as a complete defeat of the Russian army before the end of the year, and then continue to send weapons to the Ukrainian army to fight. Unfortunately, the Ukrainian army has been sacrificed to the point where only most of the recruits are left. Fighting with the Russian army is tantamount to hitting an egg with a stone.
