"Our frontline officials of CBP have seen almost all kinds of ways to hide drugs, and Tuesday was no exception. They seized liquid methamphetamine hidden in the pumpkin." Elizabeth Garduno, acting director of the Eaglepass Port, said in a statement.

Gaduno said U.S. border law enforcement officers "used their training, experience and inquiry skills to discover a rather novel drug smuggling method during Tuesday's seizure process."

CBP said the unidentified driver and passenger on the train had been detained by the Maverick County Sheriff's Office "pending further investigation."

report pointed out that as of now, CBP has seized 161,000 pounds of methamphetamine in fiscal year 2022. In the last fiscal year, the agency seized 192,000 pounds of methamphetamine. The

report also mentioned another drug smuggling incident that occurred recently. Arizona CBP officials wrote on Twitter that on Wednesday, they found about 2,100 fentanyl pills in corn burritos placed in a freezer.
