Russian Deputy Prime Minister Novak said that the Nord Stream pipeline has the possibility of repair, but it requires time and sufficient funds.
The Nord Creek subsea pipeline was damaged in many places, resulting in the leakage of 800 million cubic meters of natural gas . The natural gas was discharged, and seawater would inevitably pour into the pipeline, which would corrode the inside of the pipeline by sea water, soaking for a long time, greatly reducing the safety performance of the pipeline. In addition, repair requires all the pipelines to be pulled out of the water surface and then re-layed after the repair is completed. This requires huge funds. It is estimated that it will not save much money than laying a new pipeline again. With the current relationship between Russia and EU , neither party is willing to pay the money and is about to be repaired. Germany is under pressure from the United States, and it is hard to say whether it dares to use it.
Furthermore, with this destruction, even if it is repaired, if there is no sufficient ability to protect it, no one can guarantee that there will be no risk of being destroyed again. Some rogue countries use any means for their interests. What is even more infuriating is that others are helpless.
Russia should consider other more insurable methods to deliver natural gas to Europe.
