After 90 minutes of "stalemate", the little panda was taken back to the park by the staff of the Animal Feeding and Management Department of Kunming Zoo in an iron cage.
Kunming Zoo confirmed to the Red Star News reporter that the escaped little panda was one of the four little pandas in the park. The red panda has been classified as an endangered species by International Union for Conservation of Nature. The number of adults in the wild is estimated to be less than 10,000. Its habits are gentle and not aggressive.
Kunming Zoo and Yunnan University Dormitory East Second Hospital are located on the north and south sides of Yuantong North Road, respectively. It is only 400 meters away from the entrance and exit of the East Second Hospital to the nearest north gate of the zoo. Kunming Zoo says the reason for the escape of the little panda to be investigated.
PART01 and the little panda "fight wits and courage"
"Don't run!"
At 7:58 on October 20, Zhu Yijia, a classmate living on the fourth floor of the Metallurgical Apartment in the dormitory area of the East Second College of Yunnan University, was on the way downstairs and heard the shouts of the dormitory manager Dai Yumei. She hurriedly rushed towards the source of the sound and saw a little panda in the middle of the corridor, walking around.
generation Yumei and water delivery master Jin Yunxue have been following the little panda, worried that it will slip out of its sight at any time. Dai Yumei's heart was hanging, "What I thought at that time was that she would never hurt her classmates," she said.

attracted the attention of the students in the dormitory on the second floor. This is the first time the dormitory has welcomed "high-level visitors" and the atmosphere is exciting and tense.
On that morning, many students who were still sleeping were awakened by the noise outside the door. They described that the corridor was blocked at that time, and the security guards from the school's public security department also came to maintain order on the scene.
For safety reasons, everyone takes the initiative to keep a distance from the little pandas. The little panda was slow and climbed up to the pool at the end of the corridor, put his front paws on the glass and looked out the window. Jin Yunxue took out a woven bag from the carriage that delivered water and decided to cover the little panda first, and then call the school police department to deal with it. But he was too damn, and the little panda was frightened and rushed to the laundry room on the first floor.
8:04, Wen Lan saw a message on his circle of friends: A little panda appeared in the East Second Hospital. She hurriedly drove out of the dormitory. At that time, there was already a circle of people taking photos at the door of the laundry room, and Dai Yumei and another dormitory manager, Dong Yan, left only a crack in the door.
Wen Lan looked through the crack in the door and saw the little panda walking back and forth in several washing machine rooms, occasionally standing up and looking into the washing machine. "I have no resistance to furry animals. It looks like the rocket raccoon in " Guardians of the Galaxy ". Give it a pistol, just right!" The little panda is national second-class protected animal . "Many students say that it is not uncommon to watch a little panda in the zoo, but it is too uncommon to watch a little panda in school!"

8:15, the little panda was lying on a washing machine for a while. Seeing that the situation is temporarily stable, everyone began to think of a question: Where did the little panda in come from? Kunming Zoo and Yunnan University Dormitory East Second Hospital are located on the north and south sides of Yuantong North Road, only 400 meters away from the entrance and exit of the East Second Hospital to the nearest north gate of the zoo. Will the little panda come from Kunming Zoo?
Zhu Yijia called the Kunming Zoo office, and the dormitory manager Dong Yan explained the situation on the scene to the other party, and the other party said that he would send someone to come immediately.
PART02 The reason for the escape of the red panda to be checked
9 o'clock, and the staff of the Animal Feeding Management Department of Kunming Zoo rushed to the Metallurgical Apartment. The three staff members initially tried to pack the pandas in cartons, but worked in the laundry room for 15 minutes, and finally decided to pack the pandas in a small iron cage. At
9:30, the staff carried the little panda out of the apartment with a small iron cage. The students were reluctant to leave and followed the photos of the little panda at the last moment of Yunda ."When the little panda left, he kept looking at us, feeling that it didn't want to leave, but the zoo is its home," said Wen Lan.
html On the afternoon of the 120th, staff from the Kunming Zoo Office confirmed to the Hongxing News reporter that the little panda caught in the dormitory of Yunnan University did escape from the Kunming Zoo, but the specific path and reason of the zoo is still under investigation. "We will explain to the public after the investigation is completed."Red Star News reporter learned that a crack in the house in the Kunming Zoo had been found a few years ago. It was identified as a dangerous house and will no longer be used. The little panda was transferred to a wildlife quarantine site 300 meters away from the north gate and is not open to the public. The Panda Pavilion is still under renovation.

↑In Kunming Zoo, the staff of the quarantine ground of the Panda Pavilion where the red panda used to live said that the fleeing red panda was escorted back to the quarantine ground by the staff of the Animal Feeding and Management Department of the Kunming Zoo before 11 a.m. on the 20th. Everything is normal and there is no abnormality. The three meals of the red panda are mainly made of bamboo leaves, fruits, steamed buns, milk and other foods, and try to simulate the outdoors as much as possible.
Staff at the Animal Feeding and Management Department of Kunming Zoo said that the routes of the little pandas to unfamiliar places are very random. If there is a ready-made road, it is like a human in the absence of danger, "will be good to walk wherever you go."
According to the Red List of Endangered Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the red panda (scientific name: Ailurus fulgens) is an animal from the family Ailurus fulgen family and the genus of the genus Panda family, native to southwestern China. The red-brown fur and long fluffy tail are slightly larger than domestic cats. They are arboreal animals, feeding on bamboo shoots as their main food and also omnivorous to poultry, eggs, birds, insects and small mammals.
The red panda is a solitary animal in the wild under natural conditions. Its main activity period is dusk to dawn and is in a quiet state during most of the day. The red panda lives in the Himalayas in northern Myanmar, Nepal , the Sikkim region in India, and the western Sichuan and Yunnan regions in China, with an altitude of 2200 to 4800 meters. Since the number of adults in the wild is estimated to be less than 10,000, the red pandas have been classified as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

PART03Animals escaped in zoos in many places
This incident aroused the public's interest in the daily habits of red pandas. On social platforms, many emoticons were released on the same day: "The red panda works as a laundry in the laundry room" and "slides down the stairs", and its various interesting moments were captured one by one.
"Although the little panda is listed as a carnivore, it mainly eats plants, its habits are very gentle and not aggressive. The breeder communicates with it more during the feeding process every day, and it will establish contact with people, and it is okay to touch it. The little panda has many natural enemies, such as eagles and snakes. In order to avoid natural enemies, it will climb to high places to hide during the day, and generally move in the morning and evening." A staff member of the Animal Feeding Management Department of Kunming Zoo introduced.
The zoo red panda has escaped, not the first time. On September 14, 2022, a little panda in Beijing Zoo escaped and was directly caught by the keeper with his tail in the park. Earlier on August 15, a 7-year-old panda named Ravi, escaped from the Adelaide Zoo in Australia, and stayed in the forest for two days. She was eventually caught in an fig tree in a nearby park.
This is not the first time that animals in Kunming Zoo have escaped. 2016 China News Network reported that a "monkey king" in Kunming Zoo led 8 macaques to "fly" the 4-meter-wide isolation quarantine ditch, and collectively escaped from Monkey Mountain. Earlier in 2003, Qianjiang Evening News reported that a 37-year-old crocodile at Kunming Zoo crashed into the guardrail in the middle of the night and climbed into the staff's activity area to "stroll around". The keeper met him unexpectedly when he was going to the toilet in the dark, and staged a "crocodile terror."
And "Peacock Flying in the East" has long become a hot topic among Yun University students. Yunnan University was formerly known as Donglu University , and its campus is currently located in Wuhua District .Student Wen Lan introduced that peacocks fly over the Donglu campus all year round, flying everywhere on the trees. "The most time is five or six, stopping on the top of the court, walking back and forth, and finally the arrogant peacock was carried out with his legs like a chicken, and we followed behind and took a photo."
But not every time the staff of Kunming Zoo can successfully "capture" the escaped animals. Wen Lan remembered, "The longest time a peacock stayed in school for several days. Because the tree was too high and could not climb up, he was afraid that it would be frightened with a branch, so he could only wait for it to get tired and get off by himself."
Staff at the Animal Feeding Management Department of Kunming Zoo told the Red Star News reporter that the animal that escaped the most in the zoo was monkeys, and the peacocks who escaped the most in recent years were peacocks. Regarding the reason for the escape, the staff explained that when the breeding season comes, peacocks will fight each other to compete for territory, and the weak peacocks will fly out to find new habitats and breeding areas.
