In the early morning of the 19th local time, two Chinese giant pandas "Sihai" and "Beijing" arrived at Hamad International Airport located in the capital of Qatar Doha .
According to the cooperation agreement on giant panda protection research reached by China and Qatar, these two giant pandas will live in Qatar in the next 15 years, which is the first pair of giant pandas to be welcomed by the Middle East.

It is reported that "Sihai" is a 3-year-old female giant panda, and "Jingjing" is a 4-year-old male giant panda. They will then be transferred to the giant panda hall 50 kilometers north of Doha, and will be quarantined for three weeks after arriving.

In order to accompany and help giant pandas adapt to the new environment, the Panda Center sent experienced breeders and veterinary experts to randomly go there. More than a month ago, the Panda Center implemented quarantine and physical examinations on two giant pandas, and their health was in good condition. China has also sent expert teams to Qatar on many occasions for on-site guidance and on-site evaluation of the venues, assisting the Qatar in forming a professional giant panda breeding and management team, and completing the supply of staple food bamboo.
In order to welcome the giant panda "Four Seas" and "Beijing", the Qatar government has carefully built a giant panda hall. The two giant pandas will have air-conditioned sports fields, indoor exhibition halls, and separate "bedrooms". The giant panda hall is expected to be open to the public on the eve of the opening of the Qatar World Cup, which will also add more Chinese elements to this World Cup.
It is reported that in order to further promote international cooperation in giant panda protection and research, and promote endangered species and biodiversity protection in China and Qatar, in May 2020, China and Qatar signed a cooperation agreement on giant panda protection and research.
