The cute "national treasure" giant panda is deeply loved by people around the world. Duan Zhaogang, director of the China Giant Panda Protection Research Center, told reporters on the 11th that over the past ten years, technologies such as artificial breeding of giant pandas have developed rapidly. At present, the global population of captive giant pandas has reached 673, nearly double the number of ten years ago.

Duan Zhaogang introduced that my country's wild panda population has grown from 1114 to 1864 in the 1980s, and the protected giant panda habitat area has increased significantly. At the same time, we will make every effort to breed captive giant panda populations, and achieve rapid development of the number and quality of captive breeding giant pandas.
As the "national team" for giant panda protection research, the China Giant Panda Protection Research Center took the lead in formulating the technical standards for artificial insemination of giant pandas on the basis of overcoming the "three difficulties" of artificial breeding of giant pandas, and carried out "love breeding", implement genealogy management, implement eugenic breeding, and promote the rapid and healthy development of artificial breeding populations. On this basis, the center has built the world's largest and most extensive international and domestic cooperation and exchange platform for giant pandas, and the number of countries and regions with international cooperation has increased to 16, helping overseas giant pandas to breed and survive 21 giant panda cubs. "The development of giant panda protection is behind the progress of ecological protection concepts and the continuous improvement of scientific and technological level." Duan Zhaogang said.
Over the past decade, the China Giant Panda Conservation Research Center has successfully explored and established a set of giant panda wild training, release and monitoring technologies. A total of 10 giant pandas were released artificially and 9 survived, laying a solid foundation for artificial breeding of giant pandas in natural habitats and revitalizing endangered small populations in the wild.
is to retain small populations, genetic resources and enrich wild release technology. The China Giant Panda Protection Research Center has also taken the lead in conducting field introduction research, releasing 6 wild rescue and artificial breeding female giant pandas to be introduced in the wild. So far, 10 have been successfully bred and 8 have survived.
Duan Zhaogang said that in the future, we will focus on the construction of Giant Panda National Park , strengthen basic research, use key technologies for wild release and wild introduction, and promote the integrated development of giant pandas' migration and on-site protection. Deepen the cooperation and exchanges of giant pandas and cultural education promotion, and strive to build giant panda protection into the "Chinese business card" of biodiversity protection in the new era.
