Baishiyi Town, Chongqing High-tech Zone has the country's first Egret Nature Reserve. There are more than 20,000 herons of various species in the
area. Around March to July every year, there are multiple heron populations such as egrets, herons, cattle egret, night herons and pond herons. They will migrate here, settle down, build nests, and multiply.
Groups of egrets are soaring in the green bamboo forest, and the fledgling little egrets are practicing on the branches, forming a unique scenery where the pastoral scenery and the herons complement each other.
Egret (English name: Egret): There are 13 species of birds in the Egret genus, including great egret, medium egret, little egret and yellow-billed egret. The body feathers are all white, and they are all commonly called " Egret".
These four species of egrets are all medium-sized (45-90 cm) white herons. The difference from the Cattle Egret is that it is larger and slender, with a black bill and legs, yellow toes, pure white breeding feathers, slender feathers on the nape of the neck, and rhododendron-like feathers on the back and chest.
The great egret is large, with neither crest nor breast feathers; the medium egret is medium in size, without crest but has breast feathers; the little egret and yellow-billed egret are small, with crest and breast feathers.
