It has a slender body and maroon feathers that shine with a green metallic luster under the sunlight. Painted ibis mainly inhabits warm rivers, lakes and swamps. Due to habitat reduction and environmental pollution, it is now on the verge of extinction.

In recent years, the ecological environment of Dianchi Lake has been improving day by day. In addition, Jinning District has demolished the plastic greenhouses on the fields near Huanhu South Road and Lindian Lake and replaced them with traditional crops.
