The Chinese Merganser is a national first-class protected animal , and its number is scarce. Because it is extremely picky about the living environment, it is also called "ecological test paper".
Huoshan County, Anhui Province is located in the hinterland of Dabie Mountain , with superior ecological environment, abundant water resources, and abundant aquatic plants and animals. It is an ideal migratory and overwintering place for migratory birds in winter. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of wetland protection and management in Anhui Province, the ecological functions of wetlands have continued to improve. The Chinese Merganser, known as the "water giant panda", comes to Anhui for winter almost every year and has become a frequent visitor to Anhui.
