The white-spotted babbler is endemic to southwest China and a globally vulnerable species (at the same level as the giant panda). There is a risk of extinction. Its distribution range is extremely narrow, only rare in Muli and Sichuan Around Lijiang, Yunnan. With the disappearance of a large number of virgin forests in the 1960s, the white-spotted babbler gradually disappeared from people's vision until it reappeared in 2008. The white-spotted babbler is still under great hunting pressure, and it is urgent to protect it. Supported by the Alxa SEE Southwest Project Center and executed by Yulong Yebao, the Laojun Mountain Yunnan Golden Monkey Patrol Team found traces of the White-spotted Babbler during the patrol process. After more than three years of follow-up and investigation, the Laojun Mountain White was initially found out. The traces and activity patterns of the Spotted Babbler and the discovery of the nest of the White Spotted Babbler for the first time laid the foundation for the next step in the protection of the White Spotted Babbler.

Photographer profile
Qiao Lihua, a villager in Liju Village, Shitou Township, Yulong County, Lijiang, Lisu , bird watching enthusiast. In 2019, the Yulongye Bao Laojun Mountain Yunnan Golden Monkey Patrol Team discovered that the white-spotted babbler was found in Laojunshan. Under the guidance of the Association and SEED Nature experts, Qiao Lihua began to encourage Qiao Lihua to find the distribution range of this bird After more than a year of efforts to find and monitor, a stable population was found in the Sanchahe area. Since then, under the guidance of bird experts, from the very beginning I only knew sparrows and crows, and now I have been able to accurately distinguish dozens of bird species. In August 2020, under the guidance of some bird experts, Qiao Lihua built a simple bird shed behind her house to serve bird watching enthusiasts. As of August 2021, it has served more than 140 bird watching enthusiasts. Services provided.
