is located in Guizhou in southwestern China. Its most distinctive feature is that it has many mountains and rivers. Guizhou has an average elevation of about 1,100 meters, of which mountains and hills occupy 92.5% of the province's area, and there are also a lot of rivers. It is located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the Pearl River. There are 984 of which are more than 10 kilometers in length.
Guizhou has a subtropical temperate monsoon climate with small annual temperature differences, warm in winter and cool in summer. Such a "moisturizing" ecological environment has created a Guizhou rich in animal and plant resources. This is indeed the case. Guizhou is not only one of China's four major Chinese medicinal materials production areas, but also the home of many nationally protected animals.
Guizhou has 181 nationally protected wild animals and 79 nationally protected plants. Among them, we are familiar with the golden snub-nosed monkey, which is currently an endangered animal with only a few hundred in number. In addition to the golden snub-nosed monkey, there is also a beetle , called the yangcai-armed beetle. We don't usually pay attention to it. It was declared extinct by the state in 1982.
The amazing thing is that after the extinction was declared, the yang color-armed beetle reappeared in Guizhou. How is this going?
The Yang color arm beetle reappears in Guizhou, how did it find it?
The Yang Cai-armed beetle gives the impression that it is a huge beetle, and its discovery is purely accidental. At around 9 p.m. on August 24, in the provincial nature reserve of Yangxi Town, Yinjiang, Guizhou, the fourth grade of the ninth grade of Yangliu Middle School was studying in the evening. Suddenly there was a crashing sound. The teacher went to check after hearing it. As a result, a beetle was found, dark green all over, slender forefoot, and unusually large.
Because it is so rare, the teacher notified the biology teacher, and after judgment, it was found that this was probably a Yang color arm beetle. Later, after the Tongren College expert appraisal, this is indeed a national second-class protected animal, Yang Color-armed beetle! Later, after confirmation by government officials,It was found that it was not injured, so the next morning, it was released to nature.
What kind of animal is the male beetle? After the discovery, why not put it in captivity for protection?
Yang color beetle belongs to Insecta Coleoptera, Brachiocephalus is Coleoptera genus, usually we are familiar with coleoptera animals such as longhorn beetle, feces shell, firefly, seven-spot ladybug, cockchafer and other animals. The yangcai beetle is also similar to these animals, and is relatively large, up to 7 cm in length, and feeds on tree sap and fruits. It is mainly distributed in tropical rain forests with an altitude of more than 900 meters. It is a national second-class protected animal and is also a species unique to my country.
As a species endemic to our country, the biggest feature of the male beetle is its appearance. The head of this beetle has golden-green reflections and is very beautiful. There are two brown spots on the shoulders, which seem to be covered with shoulder armor. Although the body length is only about 7 cm, the forefoot is very long, up to 10 cm, far exceeding the body. Long, really "huge"!
Why is such a rare beetle not kept in captivity after it is discovered? Everyone did not pay attention. This time it was discovered in the Yinjiang Yangxi Town Provincial Nature Reserve. It has been protected, and there is no need to artificially raise it, because the simulated environment of humans is not necessarily better than the natural environment.
Why can it reappear after extinction?
The reason why the Yang Cai-armed beetle reappears after its extinction is because extinction itself is an artificial definition. That is to say, when humans pass certain investigation methods in a certain place and do not find this species, when it meets the anthropogenic definition of extinction, it will be declared extinct. But in fact, there are always fish that slip through the net, so it creates a scene that reappears after being declared extinct.
such as the crested ibis was considered extinct in the 1970s,Later, in 1982, another seven were found in southern Shaanxi, and they have been protected and bred to this day.
In fact, this is not the first time I have discovered the yangcai arm beetle. As early as 2004, 23 eggs and 2 larvae were found in Jiangxi.
In 2011, in the Jiangxi and Guizhou Nature Reserves, the Yang color arm beetle was discovered again.
In 2015, the yangcai beetle was discovered one after another in Fujian, Jiangxi, Sichuan and other places.
So the whole trend is that after it was declared extinct in 1982, people repeatedly discovered it, and after confirming its identity, it returned to nature again.
reappeared after being extinct, which shows that the species is recovering. Because the yangcai beetle is picky about the living environment, it is also regarded as an "environmental indicator organism", so it is also a symbol of the good local ecological environment. At the same time, it also reflects that people's environmental awareness is constantly increasing.
Generally speaking, the male beetle belongs to the second level of the " China National Key Protected Wildlife List ", and it is also a species endemic to my country. We must raise awareness of environmental protection, not only to protect these animals, but also to protect ourselves.
