Rhabdophis subminiatus

Red-necked-necked snake, belonging to vertebrates, reptiles, scaly, Snakes, genus, common name pheasant neck, red-necked young snake, flat neck. They are mostly active in the daytime, are often found near water ditches in farming areas, and mainly feed on frogs. Domestically, it is mainly distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other places. The photo was taken at Fuxian Lake .

This is a medium-sized snake. The back of the head is grass green, the upper lip scale is slightly lighter, the head and abdomen are stained white, the trunk and the back of the tail are grass green, and it is named for its scarlet neck, especially When frightened, the front part of the body will suddenly swell, a small part of the skin will instantly expand, and the scales on the back will show scarlet red, warning the enemy.

The red-necked fluted snake in the photo is an immature young snake with a body length of about 20 cm and a light blue head. It complements the orchid next to it, followed by a circle of black, bright and bright. A small section of yellow followed compactly, followed by orange-red, ocher...The body was also mixed with black markings. It can be said that its larvae are perfect in body color among snakes.

It is hard to imagine that such a beautiful snake is actually a fatal danger to people, and the country did not understand its terrible until the end of the 20th century.

Actually, among the many kinds of snakes, the number of venomous snakes is relatively small. According to the classification of venomous teeth, venomous snakes are mainly viperidae and cobras which have tube teeth and anterior furrow teeth. The red-necked trough snake is obviously not a venomous snake in the typical sense. Because this snake has a relatively mild temperament, and it is difficult to inject poison, it rarely hurts people. Therefore, for a long time, the academic circles have regarded it as a non-venomous snake, such as the " Chinese Viper and Snake In the book "Injury Prevention", it was clearly identified as a non-venomous snake.

But the truth is, if a red-necked snake bites a person,The consequences are terrible.

Just in Guangxi, a red-necked snake wounded a person to death was recorded. A middle-aged man found a red-necked trough snake while plowing the field. It was mistakenly judged to be non-venomous, so he was bitten by accidentally catching the snake while playing, and delayed the treatment time. Later, he died in the hospital due to ineffective rescue.

"Chinese Venomous Snake Science" published in December 1998 (2nd edition) also did not include the red-necked snake in the classification of venomous snakes, but observing the medical reports in recent years, the red-necked snake has caused many poisoning incidents. Most of the reason is that the people take the initiative to provoke tragedies because they are non-toxic.

Warm reminder, please do not provoke wild snakes. In the event of an accident, please seek medical attention in time.
