The Xinle Street Night Market in Kaohsiung has been reported recently, saying that there are vendors selling various brands of snail noodles , spicy peanuts , Konjac Shuang and other large brands. Regarding mainland-made snacks, the Kaohsiung City Government Health Bureau went to the site for inspection after receiving the report. A total of 2,064 packages of mainland foods without traditional Chinese labels were sealed. Business operators who violate the Food Safety and Hygiene Management Act may be fined not less than NT$30,000 (NTD, the same below) but not more than NT$3 million. Officials threatened to impose heavy fines on traders, causing dissatisfaction among netizens on the island.

According to Xinmin.com, snail noodles are a special delicacy of Guangxi. Nowadays, many Taiwanese compatriots also like this taste, and many people have to eat it two or three times a week to feel satisfied.

However, recently, the small instant snail noodles have touched the sensitive nerves of the Taiwanese authorities. The economic supervisory agency of the Taiwan authorities claimed that the import of mainland-made "snail noodles" food is not currently open, and the sale of "snail noodles" in the market has involved violations of import and export and other relevant laws, and requires e-commerce and physical stores to completely remove the products from their shelves. According to current regulations, mainland-made vermicelli products such as Chinese noodles, wide noodles, rice vermicelli, etc. are not allowed to be imported. Why is

such a nonsensical situation? It is said that the packaging of a certain brand of snail noodle was printed with the relevant text "You are Chinese, I am also Chinese, if you round it off, you are mine", which immediately hit the fragile heart of the authorities.

Recently, various parts of the island have strictly inspected mainland foods represented by snail noodles. According to Taiwanese media reports, the Kaohsiung City Government Health Bureau stated that the Health Bureau sent personnel to the Xinle Street Night Market on the 23rd for an inspection and found that stalls were selling three products: Konjac Spicy Sauce, Konjac Spicy Sauce, and Konjac Hot and Sour Pickles. The outer packaging did not have traditional Chinese markings and the operator was unable to provide information related to import licenses. Health Bureau personnel sealed the three products on site, totaling 2,064 packages. Business operators who have violated Article 22, Article 30 of the Food Safety and Hygiene Management Act and Article 47, Paragraph 8, and Paragraph 14 of the same law may be fined not less than 30,000 yuan but not more than 3 million yuan.

The Health Bureau stated that as long as they are legal imported products, they must have clear traditional Chinese labels. The three konjac products seized this time are because the outer packaging of the products does not have traditional Chinese labels, which may cause food safety problems. Therefore, they will be seized first. The source of the seized products will be clarified in the future, and the inspection of imported products without legal labels will continue to be strengthened.

In response to this, netizens on the island have said, "Is the DPP cutting off people's livelihood because they have too many votes?" "It has gone too far for the sake of paranoid ideology" and "Let the people live!" (Source: Straits Herald New Media Comprehensive)
