Purchased lottery tickets on an online APP. Under the leadership of the so-called "gold medal" mentor, Ms. Tang, a citizen, fell deeper and deeper into the lottery, investing more than 1.5 million yuan in succession, and ultimately lost all her money.

In early October 2019, Ms. Tang, a citizen, came into contact with an APP software called "Lecai" under the introduction of a friend. After logging into the APP, a WeChat ID of a self-proclaimed "gold medal mentor" on the website added Ms. Tang. The instructor led Ms. Tang to start betting on the lottery in the APP. At first, Ms. Tang just had a fun mentality and invested several thousand yuan. Unexpectedly, the funds doubled after a few minutes of the lottery draw.

At this time, the instructor also told Ms. Tang that if she invested more money, she could also enjoy the guaranteed compensation service proposed by the APP, which meant that if she lost her bet, she could get corresponding compensation. Thinking that it was so easy to make money and that compensation was guaranteed, Ms. Tang invested more than 200,000 yuan. What she didn't expect was that the money in her account soon increased to more than 700,000 yuan. Now, when Ms. Tang asked to withdraw money, the website still rejected Ms. Tang's withdrawal request because of insufficient turnover.

From October 9 to October 29, 2019, Ms. Tang invested a total of more than 1.5 million yuan. When Ms. Tang wanted to withdraw money, the other party was always unable to withdraw money due to various reasons such as insufficient betting turnover and insufficient number of bets. Ms. Tang believed she had been deceived and reported the incident to the police. Based on Ms. Tang’s description, the police determined that this was a typical “ pig killing plate ” fraud.

At the same time, the police learned that this "Lecai" APP software is actually a fake platform that imitates the national official lottery. The items in it seem to be very similar to the regular lottery types, but it is actually a fake APP software created by the criminals themselves. After the

case occurred, Hetang police started with the capital flow involved and the service data of the APP involved. Through scientific research and judgment, they quickly identified one of the suspects as Liu from Anxi, Fujian. By investigating Liu's social relationships, a pig-killing plate fraud gang headed by Liu gradually surfaced.

Police investigation found that the gang has a clear division of labor. Not only does it have a dedicated person responsible for online promotion, but after the victim enters the APP, the chat group intervenes and disguises itself as an investment mentor to guide the victim to invest. During the investment process, the victim has a high chance of winning, and the mentor continues to induce the victim to invest more money. The reason why the victims of

were able to win money is because the gang has a dedicated technical maintenance team, and the odds and winning or losing of the game can be controlled by the backend.

After figuring out the characteristics of this gang's crimes, the police quickly deployed an arrest operation. Because the platform is located overseas, it is difficult to arrest them. In September this year, the police learned that several key members of the gang returned to China due to the epidemic. The Hetang police immediately mobilized criminal investigation, network security, and elite police stations, and the troops were divided into seven groups and went to Anxi, Nan'an, Changkeng, Xuchang, Changge, Xinxiang and other places in Fujian to launch arrest operations. 11 suspects were arrested one after another.

After investigation, the gang is currently involved in more than 10 cases, with the amount involved exceeding 10 million yuan. Currently, 11 suspects have been detained by the police on suspicion of fraud. The case is still under further investigation.

The police remind citizens that they must invest and manage money through formal channels and beware of being deceived.
