At the same time, the Ukrainian State Security Service SBU also announced a special operation in Zaporozhye to prevent attempts to illegally transfer the latest military technology subject to state export controls to foreign countries. According to the SBU, the scheme was organized by a former official of a powerful defense company in the region, who engaged three current employees in illegal activities.
SBU stated that after searching the perpetrator’s office and residence, law enforcement officers discovered electronic media with technical documents for military purposes, a means of communication for communicating with foreign “clients”, and also seized a deposit of US$30,000.
Currently, the issue of notifying criminal suspects and selecting the form of detention under Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Procedure for the international transfer of goods in violation of state export controls") is being addressed.
