News from the Federation of Clan Associations in the Philippines: The Clan Federation was adopted on January 15th The whole Council elected a new leadership team of the Council. Yesterday (Friday, January 29), the 35th Council was successfully sworn in via online video ZOOM at 10 am. Due to the epidemic in our country, the number of people with COVID-19 has reached thousands every day. At the same time, for the sake of everyone’s health and safety, we have complied with government decrees and kept everything simple.
The inauguration ceremony started on time at 10 o'clock. First, Mr. Gan Yongzhou, the monthly chairman of the association, delivered a speech. Chairman Xie Guoren introduced and respectfully invited the oath taker and honorary chairman Mr. Zhuang Jinyao to administer the oath and instruct the new directors. Then, the 34th chief Xie Guoren presided over the ceremony. The chairman handed over the seal to the 35th chief, Chairman Li Yaopeng, and also presented certificates of thanks to Mr. Jin Yao, the honorary chairman of the Commissioner of Oaths, the five presidents of the 34th term, and the financial director Poon Weishan, who won the perfect attendance award in the 34th term. The inauguration ceremony was simple yet grand, and everyone took a group photo on ZOOM. After the ceremony, the first council meeting was presided over by the new chairman, Mr. Li Yaopeng. Everyone spoke actively and discussed heatedly on the matters discussed and some topics related to the current epidemic. At nearly 12 noon, the meeting ended successfully. This online video inauguration ceremony was very successful with everyone's cooperation. Vice Chairman/Vice President Comrade Cai Zhangzuo is enthusiastic about conference affairs and responsible for everything. He was awarded the title of Executive Vice Chairman/Vice President. Vice Chairman/Vice President Comrade Huang Pangui and Comrade Hou Zeqin served the association sincerely and their careers were booming. Nai resigned from the position of Vice Chairman/Vice President due to busy business and was appointed as Honorary Vice Chairman/Honorary Vice President. Comrades Yao Jinzhen, Huang Tiancong, Cai Mingfeng, Li Jiaqing, Hong Huoyu, Xu Youqing, Gao Weize, and Zhang Wenhui, the former vice chairman/vice presidents, continue to serve in their original leadership positions. Our association was originally scheduled to hold a re-election celebration on March 29, 2020. However, due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus pneumonia and the spread of the epidemic in the Philippines, the re-election celebration could not be held as scheduled. The Board of Directors has jointly discussed and decided that the new inauguration ceremony will be held via video link at 11:00 am on February 21, 2021 (Sunday). Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce News: On January 26, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines held the first annual "Friends of Consular Affairs" award event to commend representatives of the Philippine government and Chinese community who strongly support the embassy's consular and overseas Chinese work.
Ambassador Huang Xilian awarded medals and delivered speeches to 14 "Friends of Consulars" winners including Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dulay of the Philippines and delivered a speech.
Dr. Li Fengwu, permanent honorary chairman and executive prime minister of the Association, was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award, and Mr. Xu Haigang, Vice Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, was awarded the Outstanding Performance Award in recognition of their contributions in promoting Philippines-China friendship and supporting epidemic prevention and control work in 2020.
