A few days ago, Taiwanese leader Tsai Ing-wen announced that would solve the shortage of troops on the island by extending the duration of military service. Tsai Ing-wen said that Taiwan will extend the previous four-month military service period for young men to one year starting from 2024, and will adjust the salary of compulsory soldiers from the previous NT$6,510 to NT$20,320, an increase of more than three times.
According to Taiwanese media reports, Taiwan’s current main battle force is experiencing serious personnel loss. Nearly 90,000 of the troops are non-commissioned officers, while the number of soldiers is only 45,000. The ratio is seriously imbalanced. Before adjusting the military service system, the Taiwan authorities also tried to recruit military service by relaxing restrictions. As a result, some soldiers with poor physical conditions were recruited, and ultimately failed to solve the problem of military personnel shortage.

People on the island did not buy Tsai Ing-wen's behavior of inciting "resistance to China and Taiwan" on the island.
