Phumin Temple

The town center of Nan Province is a temple complex. Among these temples with different styles, the most popular is Phumin Temple (Wat Phumin). It has a unique cross-symmetrical base, with doors in four directions for entry and exit, and auspicious lions guarding the east and west sides. The thick walls and small windows in the interior are all in Xishuangbanna style.

The big Buddha enshrined in the temple faces all directions. No matter which entrance you enter from, you can see the smiling face of the Buddha. The round ears and nose of the Buddha statue have a strong Sukhothai style. The reliefs on the ceiling and beams in the main hall are reproductions of the Lanna culture. Although times have changed, they are still delicate and beautiful.

Most people who come to Puming Temple are attracted by the exquisite murals in the temple. At the end of the 18th century, these murals depicting Buddhist stories and the daily lives of the people at that time were created by Thai artists for 20 years. The part of the mural near the roof mainly tells Chinese Buddhist stories, while the lower part tells the daily life of Chinese people.

Cheheng Temple
Wat Phra That Chae Haeng
Wat Phu Minh in Nan Province is the most popular temple, but when it comes to the most sacred temple, it should belong to Wat Phra That Chae Haeng, the main building of the temple is a 55-meter-high Lanna-style gold-plated pagoda . The temple enshrines Buddha relics from Sukhothai.
The main hall is in Xishuangbanna style, with thick walls, small windows, and a dragon relief above the door.
In addition to the Buddha statues that can be seen everywhere, sculptures related to rabbits can also be seen. This is why this pagoda is also called the Year of the Rabbit Zodiac Pagoda .
The plants are trimmed into the shape of rabbits. Friends who were born in the Year of the Rabbit, come and say goodbye.

Min Mang Temple

It turns out that Nan Mansion also has a "White Temple" . When most people think of the "White Temple", the first thing they think of is Linh Kuang Temple in Chiang Rai. Although it is not as grand as the "White Temple" in Chiang Rai, the antiquity and exquisiteness of the White Temple in Nanfu deeply attract tourists to visit.The main god worshiped by this century-old temple built in 1855 AD is "City-God", and this temple is also the "Pillar of the City", symbolizing the "Lanna Town".
The white main hall is engraved with many reliefs of wise men. Although they have been washed away by 150 years, they are still lifelike. The dragons extending from the front hall reveal different gods and hold different musical instruments in their hands.
The interior and exterior of the temple are in sharp contrast. Different from the white outside the temple, the interior of the main hall is surrounded by bright colors. The murals on the walls are all made by local artists like Puming Temple.

When you come to this multi-cultural town, how can you not visit the local museum? The Nanfu Museum was formerly the residence of the king. It was built in 1903 and opened to the public in 1973.
There are 6 exhibition halls on the first floor, which mainly introduce the costumes, farming equipment, musical instruments and currency of ethnic minorities at that time. Yunnan's "Xishuangbanna" style clothes are also popular throughout Thailand.
