Introduction
On November 27, Ms. Yang Huasha and I attended the 90th Hollywood Walk of Fame Christmas Parade by the largest sponsor of the Hollywood Christmas Parade, the Family Film Award. The parade is the biggest parade since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, with hundreds of thousands of spectators on site. More than 90 celebrities, 14 parade and performance groups, 32 concierge antique cars were included in sequence, 24 award-winning performance bands, and 10-story-high balloons of characters.
After Thanksgiving Day, the Christmas lights on the Los Angeles Avenue of Stars are on, and the Hollywood Christmas Parade is about to begin. Every November, people start to wear the most festive costumes and go to the Hollywood Walk of Stars to experience the Christmas atmosphere like a fairyland on earth.
For the people of the United States, the Hollywood Christmas Parade has a long history and is one of the most influential parades in the United States. The Sunday of the last week of November every year is the day of the Christmas parade, and this year is no exception.
The parade kicked off at 6:00 on November 27th at the Xinguang Avenue in Hollywood, featuring colorful floats, giant balloons of various shapes, parade bands, equestrian athletes and celebrities, and unfolded along the U-shaped route.
Parade route is 3.2 miles long. Start from Hollywood Avenue on Orange Avenue, drive east along Hollywood Avenue to Vine Street, then follow Vine Street to Sunset Avenue , and finally return to Orange Avenue west at sunset.
The Christmas parade that night lasted for more than two hours. The parade included film and television stars, star convoys, famous Hollywood costume props, military bands of middle school students, performance teams of various ethnic groups, etc., as well as several floors of balloon characters and animal shapes, which made the whole parade climax one after another. Before the parade began, famous singers showed their singing voices on the spot, sending holiday greetings to the audience and the parade.
It is understood that the Hollywood Christmas Parade was founded in 1928 and has a history of 94 years so far. During this period, since World War II was suspended for two years, and then due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic, this year's Christmas parade happened to be the 90th. This parade is of great significance to all participants and the audience, it is one of the symbols of global economic recovery, and it is also a rare warm picture after the Russian-Ukrainian War.
As one of the Chinese invited media people, I am very proud and proud to be able to see traditional dragon and lion dance , Chinese martial arts , Hanfu culture, Chinese national quintessence cheongsam and other performances with Chinese characteristics in foreign countries. In particular, China's national treasure panda (doll), as the mascot of this event, took the stage together with Santa Claus , which further confirmed the friendship between China and the United States.
In the audience, I met many old friends, most of whom are mainstream figures in Los Angeles, such as Ambassador Zhang Ping and Southern California Hualian Chairman Chen Huibi. Through Chen Huibi's introduction, I learned that the lion dance and martial arts performances of this parade were spontaneously organized by the Dongfeng Lion Dance Team, and the giant panda on the red carpet was played by the four presidents of Southern California Hualian.
That night, Consul General Zhang Ping, who walked the red carpet before the march began, said that the Christmas parade was a good occasion for the whole United States to have a deep understanding of Chinese traditional culture and an opportunity for cultural exchanges between China and the United States.
In an interview with the media, Ambassador Zhang Ping said that he was excited and excited that night. He said that this parade is one of the few major cultural activities in mainstream society that Chinese and overseas Chinese have participated in over the years. The Hollywood Christmas Parade is one of the largest events in the United States to celebrate Christmas and New Year. It has a wide influence and is also familiar to the American people. It is an occasion for Chinese and overseas Chinese to show their charm of Chinese culture and their spiritual outlook.
Ambassador Zhang Ping looked at the parade on the scene and said: "You can see the colorfulness of our Chinese culture from the outfits of overseas Chinese." He said that participating in the Christmas parade is a good opportunity for all sectors of the United States to understand our Chinese nation's culture, our overseas Chinese, and the significance of Sino-US cultural exchanges. It is an opportunity for the American people to understand China and the Chinese people, and to further tell a good story of China.
At the same time, Zhang Ping expressed his great gratitude to the Chinese and compatriots from major overseas Chinese groups who participated in and organized this event. He said that many people in the overseas Chinese community have raised funds and given up their holidays for this event, which is touching. He hopes that overseas Chinese will participate more in mainstream large-scale cultural activities, show themselves, promote the interaction between the Chinese community and the mainstream, and promote the integration between the Chinese and the mainstream.
