Miami / 2005-2008

Brickell Impression Apartment and W Hotel is located at the mouth of the Golden Bay at the intersection of the Miami River and Biscayne Bay. Its design combines skyscrapers with a park-like architectural core in a dismantling manner, symbolizing the impression of Miami’s new urban environment and symbolizing the development pursuit of new Miami and its urbanization as the core.

The Brickell Financial District on the north side of Miami City gathers a large number of International Bank and financial institutions headquarters. One of the symbolic portals to this emerging financial center, the Icon Brickell Complex is located in its most prominent position, one of the most eye-catching buildings at the intersection of the Miami River and Biscayne Bay.

The project consists of three towering towers (a total of 1,794 residential apartment units and a boutique hotel) and a podium connecting the towers, Icon Brickell Plaza .

Among them, the Icon Brickell North Tower & South Tower are both 58 floors and 179 meters high; while the W Hotel Building is 50 floors and 150 meters high. The W Hotel is distributed on 9 floors of the W Hotel building and contains 105 resort hotel units.

In this irregular plot, the tower and the shopping plaza below have jointly created an impression of a new type of urban environment, symbolizing the development pursuit of New Miami and its urbanization as the core.

Three towering towers symbolize Miami's high-density urban environment —In the plan layout, they rotate west, southeast and north respectively, forming a trend away from the center of the site, and forming three different sets of architectural portraits in three directions, while also framing the central podium square.

The shopping plaza on the podium symbolizes the vitality of the city and the naturalness of —it combines regular form and a sense of leisure and relaxation to create a Sky Court on the roof, adding a touch of blue to the building with the swimming pool covered on it.

Skyscrapers combined with park-like architectural core

For high-rise towers, the design always hopes to use the shape and skin to make the building look more vertical and taller, but in this project, the design made the opposite choice - "breaking" the volume of the building.

All towers are wrapped under the "veil" of white steel structure - this "veil" not only serves as a sunshade system for the building, but also decomposes the volume of the building into smaller cubes. The three large towers were thus dismantled into 11 distinct prisms with distinct lines, as if they were stacked and grown cubes.

The facade of the podium also continues the design vocabulary of the tower. repeats the rhythm of the tower's facade with a more detailed steel structure grid, and further reduces the scale of its texture to be closer to the street.

The top of the podium is designed for about 8,000 square meters of sun terrace (Sun Deck) .As one of the city's largest leisure terraces, it includes a seating area, an open-air cafe, and a spa of about 2,600 square meters and a luxury swimming pool - Here you can enjoy beautiful views of downtown Miami, Biscayne Bay and South Miami Beach.

On the top of the W Hotel building, the design also creates a club space (Club 50), allowing the rest area and pool area to reappear in the cloud.
