Wang Hairong is from Changsha, Hunan Province and was born in September 1938. Her grandfather is named Wang Jifan , and she is Chairman Mao’s aunt cousin. In 1914, Chairman Mao entered the Hunan Provincial No. 1 Normal School. At that time, Wang Jifan served as the supervisor of the school. He gave Chairman Mao a lot of help in both academic and economics. Later, when Chairman Mao was engaged in revolutionary activities in Changsha, he was hunted by reactionary military and police many times. Thanks to Wang Jifan's rescue and cover, he escaped from danger. In 1927, Chairman Mao led the Autumn Harvest Uprising and then went to Jinggangshan , thus separated from his cousin Wang Jifan.

Wang Jifan has only one only son, named Wang Deheng. When his daughter Wang Hairong was born, he was 27 years old. Wang Jifan loves his newborn granddaughter very much. He is knowledgeable and talented, and admires Lin Zexu, a national hero who dispels cigarettes in Humen. He wrote a couplet he wrote: "The sea embraces all rivers, and is tolerant; a wall stands thousands of feet high, and a strong person without desires." He also highly praised it and has always regarded it as his motto. After her granddaughter was born, Wang Jifan chose two words from this couplet and named her Wang Hairong.

Shortly after his daughter was born, Wang Deheng followed his father's arrangements and came to Yan'an all the way to find Chairman Mao, asking to participate in the anti-Japanese war. Chairman Mao agreed to his cousin's request, first arranged for him to study in anti-domain , and later sent him back to his hometown in Hunan to engage in underground work. In 1941, Wang Deheng was betrayed by a traitor while performing a mission and unfortunately died at the age of 30. At this time, his daughter Wang Hairong had just turned 3 years old. At that time, Wang Jifan was nearly 60 years old. Chairman Mao was worried that he would hide the matter if he was overly sad after learning the news.

At that time, Wang Hairong's mother had to make money to support the family and take care of her daughter. She was too busy to do so, so she sent her daughter to her parents' home and entrusted her to her mother to take care of her. After living in my grandmother's house for many years, Wang Hairong returned to her mother to study. During this period, Wang Jifan and Chairman Mao often exchanged letters. After the founding of New China, Wang Jifan wrote another letter to Chairman Mao, in addition to congratulating the victory of the revolution, he also put forward many rational suggestions.

In 1953, Chairman Mao invited Wang Jifan to Beijing, and he brought his granddaughter Wang Hairong with him. At that time, Wang Hairong was under 15 years old. Although this was the first time she had seen Chairman Mao, she didn't feel alienated at all, but felt very kind. She called Chairman Mao the "Chairman's Father-in-law", and Chairman Mao happily agreed and grabbed a handful of candy for her. Li Na and Wang Hairong were about the same age, and the two little girls quickly went to the garden to play with each other hand.

Looking at Wang Hairong's back, Chairman Mao remembered her father, so he said to Wang Jifan sadly: "Brother Ninth, I'm sorry for you, I failed to protect Deheng." Wang Jifan hurriedly waved his hand and said: "I sent Deheng to Yan'an just because I wanted him to contribute to the country. War always kills people. He sacrificed his life for the country and died as a place. I have no regrets, and the Chairman does not have to blame himself for this."

Not long after, Wang Jifan took office as counselor of the State Council and settled his home in Beijing. Wang Hairong's mother also rushed to Beijing from Hunan to accompany his daughter to study. In 1960, Wang Hairong was admitted to the Beijing Normal University Russian major. During her studies at school, she studied very hard. In addition to her own major, she also taught herself English, French and German languages. In that era, there were very few people who mastered four foreign languages. After graduating from school, at the suggestion of Chairman Mao, Wang Hairong entered the Beijing Foreign Languages College to study English.

Since Wang Hairong is an orphan of a martyr, Chairman Mao is very concerned about this niece and specially asked Zhang Hanzhi, who once served as his English teacher, to give her two lessons a week, mainly to teach her speaking. A year later, Wang Hairong finished her further study at the Beijing Foreign Languages College. She mastered many foreign languages and joined the General Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After more than four years of training, Wang Hairong served as deputy director of the Concierge Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. When Kissinger and Nixon visited China, Wang Hairong participated in the reception work.

In 1974, Wang Hairong became the deputy minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, when she was only 36 years old. Every time Chairman Mao meets with foreign guests, Wang Hairong will attend and serve as Chairman Mao’s translator. On Wang Hairong's growth path, Chairman Mao gave her a lot of help. In September 1976, Chairman Mao unfortunately passed away. Wang Hairong cried bitterly after learning the bad news. Later, Wang Hairong left the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and came to , the State Council Advisory Office, , as deputy director. Wang Hairong dedicated the best years of his life to the diplomatic cause of New China and never married for life. After retiring, she lived with her younger brother's family and enjoyed her old age. On September 9, 2017, Wang Hairong died of illness at the age of 79.
