According to the official measurement of China Earthquake Network , at 1:51 on December 12, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake occurred in Tumote Left Banner, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia. The focal depth was 10 kilometers, and the epicenter was located at 40.57 degrees north latitude and 111.14 degrees east longitude. On the morning of December 12, a reporter from Jimu News learned that the local quake felt strong and some residents were awakened in the middle of the night.

"I was asleep, but suddenly I felt the bed and house moving, which made me wake up." Tumote Left Banner A resident said that at around 1:51 a.m., she woke up from her sleep and saw that the tables and lights at home were shaking at different amplitudes, and she realized that it was an earthquake. After about a minute, the vibration disappeared, "The things at home were not damaged. My family and I saw that it was fine, so we continued to go back to sleep."
The owner of another local hotel told reporters that she was still on duty in the store when the earthquake occurred. Suddenly, she felt a violent shaking. She thought something had exploded in the guest room. "I looked around and it was fine. The group said it was an earthquake, and I realized it." The boss said that she saw lights on many nearby residential buildings, and two or three people wrapped in large cotton coats and ran to the open space downstairs.
"A small piece of the tiles on the wall fell off, nothing else was wrong." The boss also said that the local situation is normal and residents' lives have not been affected.
Ms. Hu, a resident of Xincheng District, Hohhot, told reporters that their house was high and suddenly felt shaking everywhere in the early morning. "The phone sent me an earthquake reminder. We were about to go downstairs and found that it was fine."

A citizen of Qingshan District, Baotou City also felt the shock. He told Jimu News that at around 1:50 a.m., he suddenly noticed a shaking when he was about to go to bed.
"I thought it was an illusion." The resident said that he went to bed without paying much attention. After getting up, he saw the news online and realized that it was an earthquake.
