The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly declares what flag the Party raises, what path to take, what spirit state to continue to move forward towards on the new era and new journey, and scientifically plans the goals, tasks and major policies and guidelines for the development of our party and the country in the future.
In order to study, publicize and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party, the Provincial Bureau of Letters and Calls took the book "Hundred Questions on Studying and Tutoring of the 20th National Congress of the Party" as an opportunity to comprehensively study, fully grasp and fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party. In the form of daily questions and answers, it opened a learning column. led everyone to deeply understand the rich connotation, spiritual essence and great significance of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party.
General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his report at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China that adhering to and developing Marxism must be combined with China's specific reality and with China's excellent traditional culture. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statement on “two combinations” profoundly reveals the realistic path and internal laws of Marxism’s innovative development in China. In this regard, we can deepen our understanding from the following three aspects.
First, "two combinations" are an experience summary and revealing the laws of the process of sinicization and modernization of Marxism.
Marxism deeply reveals the universal laws of the development of nature, human society, and human thinking. But Marxist theory is not a dogma, but a guide to action. Its scientific truth must be used to solve practical problems faced by countries. A history of the development of Marxism is the history of Marxism's continuous development based on the times, practice and understanding, and it is also a history of constantly absorbing all excellent ideological and cultural achievements in human history to enrich one's own history. Since its birth, our Party has clearly written Marxism on its own banner, and has started a historical process of combining the basic principles of Marxism with China's specific reality, exploring nationalization and localization, and successfully opening up the correct path to realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. In long-term practice, our Party has deeply realized that upholding and developing Marxism must be rooted in China's unique historical and cultural traditions. Mao Zedong once said: "From Confucius to Sun Yat-sen, we should give a summary and inherit this precious legacy." Deng Xiaoping learned from the description of ancient well-off society in " Book of Rites·Liyun " and proposed the development goal of building a "modernly prosperous society", which effectively consolidated and inspired the enthusiasm of hundreds of millions of people for their struggle. It is precisely because our party has always insisted on starting from China's specific reality and focusing on drawing nutrients from China's excellent traditional culture that Marxism has taken root in China and has continuously enriched and developed, forming a series of major achievements in the sinicization and modernization of Marxism, and providing scientific theoretical guidance for the development of the Party and the country.
Second, Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is the latest theoretical achievement of adhering to the "two combinations". Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has led the Party and the people to insist on combining the basic principles of Marxism with the specific reality of China. In the process of creating great achievements in socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and opening up a new realm of the sinicization and modernization of Marxism, he clearly emphasized the need to strengthen cultural confidence and make a series of major decisions to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of China's excellent traditional culture. In July 2021, General Secretary Xi Jinping clearly stated at the meeting celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China that "adhering to the combination of the basic principles of Marxism with China's specific reality and with China's excellent traditional culture." General Secretary Xi Jinping is a model for creatively applying excellent traditional culture, and has refined and summarized many major innovative concepts and ideas in combination with the requirements of the times. For example, the development idea of people-centered absorbs and learns from traditional governance concepts such as the public, the people are the country, and governs with virtue; the standards for good cadres in the new era absorbs and learns from ancient government ideas such as appointing people based on merit, selecting talents and abilities, correcting oneself and cultivating oneself, and putting morality first; the community with a shared future for mankind absorbs and learns from traditional ways of diplomatic relations such as harmony among all nations, keeping faith and cultivating harmony, being kind to neighbors, and being harmonious but not harmonious; etc.Practice has proved that Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was formed through adhering to the "two combinations", it is contemporary Chinese Marxism, 21st century Marxism, and the essence of the times of Chinese culture and Chinese spirit.
Third, continue to open up new realms of sinicization and modernization of Marxism while adhering to the "two combinations".
At present, the world has undergone major changes that have not been seen in a century have been accelerating. On the new journey, our party’s mission and tasks shouldered by us are arduous and heavy, and the risks and challenges faced are complex and severe, which brings new tests to our party’s governance and puts forward new and higher requirements for theoretical innovation. We must conscientiously implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, more consciously adhere to the "two combinations", and continuously promote theoretical innovation based on practice. On the one hand, we must base ourselves on the reality of building a modern socialist country in , conduct in-depth research and answer new problems encountered in practice, deep-seated problems in reform, development and stability, problems that the people are anxious about, major problems in international changes, and prominent problems faced by party building, and constantly propose new concepts, new ideas and new methods to truly solve problems. On the other hand, we must deeply explore and apply the rich treasures of Chinese culture, insist on using the past for the present and introducing new things, and integrate the essence of Marxist thought with the essence of China's excellent traditional culture and the common values that the people use without realizing it. By constantly answering questions from China, the world, the people, and the times, we will fully stimulate the inner vitality of Chinese culture, promote the Party’s innovative theories to better keep pace with the times, and demonstrate a stronger power of truth and practical power.
