I am Yu Gang, a 60-year-old boy, and I have been in pediatric ophthalmology for 40 years this year.
On the day I was 60 years old, I announced the establishment of Beijing Meihe Ophthalmology and the establishment of China's first baby doctor group.
That day, the reporter took a photo of me: Director Wu Qian on the left and I have been with me for 31 years, and President Zhang Feng has been for 27 years. Both of them are witnesses of my three entrepreneurial ventures.

All of this originated from a sad story of life and death separation on the entrepreneurial journey 24 years ago.
The first time we left
In 1989, the first time we started our business
The first public hospital in China to organize a caravan entrepreneurship for ophthalmology and medical caravan entrepreneurship
1989 We started our first entrepreneurship in 1989. At that time, there was no small yellow car, no Alipay, no Aier Eye Hospital, and no Internet. We were the first doctor group in the country to start a business with a caravan medical team.
Our footprints are spread across Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shanxi and Beijing. We have medical treatment and surgery in 40 cities.
We did a very successful job. Just as we promoted these medical outlets across the country, a sudden accident changed my plan and completely changed my life.
At that time, we divided into three medical teams to Xilinhot for a circuit operation. I remember that there were a lot of patients and the operation was very successful.
However, on the way back to the city, I suddenly received a notice: Dean , something happened.
At that time, I didn’t have a cell phone. After receiving the call from this city, I returned to Xilinhot that day.
I was totally shocked when that very tragic scene appeared in front of me!
A director and two directors of our medical team were seriously injured. They were rescued in the ICU ward. A doctor was lying on the grasslands of Inner Mongolia forever.
She is Dr. Gao Meiqin, who should have started a business with us.
The perpetrator escaped, but the deceased must be cremated locally as required by Xilinhot. My heart was broken when I thought of my entrepreneurial partner going to sleep on the grasslands of Inner Mongolia.
Gao Meiqin's first seventh, I drove back to the grassland road at the junction of Xilinhot and Saihantara with the offerings and incense wax candles.
I will never forget that scene : In the vast Inner Mongolia grassland, I want to cry without tears, my heart is broken, I just want to burn an incense stick, I just want to say the last few words to Gao Meiqin.
However, the Inner Mongolia driver who was traveling with me told me, Dean, Xilinhot has a clear rule that it is absolutely not allowed to light incense on the grassland in winter.
Just like that, that incense stick burned forever in my heart, and I embarked on a long journey of chasing the evil.
On the grasslands in Inner Mongolia, we chased for three years. I have experienced minus 42 degrees Celsius, endured the white-haired wind and snow with a visibility of only 5 meters, and climbed the steepest 18 plates in Inner Mongolia.
That year, I won the first Top Ten Youth in Hebei Province, and the first time in the province, I organized the Top Ten Youth to give a tour. What an honor this is for me at the age of 38!
However, for justice and for this love, I chose to give up.
Finally, we caught the murderer and won the compensation lawsuit.
One morning three years later, at the shift meeting of the whole hospital, I suggested that hundreds of employees in the hospital stand up and watch silently, and bow three times to the deceased Director Gao Meiqin.
1195 days, 250,000 kilometers, my entrepreneurial sister - Director Gao Meiqin, rest in peace.
This is the first time in twenty-four years that I recalled this past in public.
Day and night after Gao Meiqin passed away, my spirit was almost broken. Every time I close my eyes, I dreamed of Gao Meiqin's simple smile before leaving.
At that time, I thought about resigning from the dean, I thought about abandoning the doctor and going to business, and I thought about giving up the profession of doctor.
Later I walked out of this shadow and gave up what I was going to give up. It was the first time I left my leave in my life.
The second time I left
In 2004, I officially resigned from the president and vice chairman of the CPPCC. I came to Beijing and came to the Children's Hospital. I became a pediatric ophthalmologist.
Before resigning, I handed over a transcript to the successor dean: Nearly 30 ophthalmic hospitals, outpatient departments, and beauty centers.
Even after experiencing the largest traffic accident in the medical community in Hebei Province, our entrepreneurial team did not sink from this grief and we stood up.
In 2004, I came to Beijing Children's Hospital
Give up a comfortable life and light up the world for my baby
0 The first year I came to Beijing, I visited all the museums and places of interest in Beijing, and I lived a life that seemed to be retired.
But something happened later touched me.
On a day, a strong man from rural areas took his child to consult.
After I checked the disease in detail, I was diagnosed with retinoblastoma . This disease was called childhood eye cancer at that time, and was also called cat eye.
At that time, our country had no treatment for this disease. One eye was used to pick one eye, and two eyes were used to pick two eyes, to save your life.
When I explained to my parents about eyeball removal, the whole family hugged their heads and cried.
In the afternoon, when I was on the clinic, I received a call from the security department: Director Yu, hurry up to the east gate.
At that time, I had an unknown feeling: they said there was an abandoned baby.
I didn't even take off my white coat and ran to the east gate...
I will never forget the scene at that time: in the trash can, a child in a swaddling clothes. After opening the gauze, the child did not cry. A pair of innocent and helpless little eyes like kittens blinked and looked at me. In an instant, I felt my soul suffered a heavy blow...
After four abandoned babies, I began to find a way to treat retinoblastoma.
At that time, there was a particularly good method abroad called "chemical volume reduction" , which was to reduce the cell tumor through chemotherapy, and then freeze the child. There was also laser treatment to protect the eyeballs, protect the child's life and .
I found Professor Zhao Qingyang, an expert in blastoma, and after several years of hard work, I solved this problem.
is now promoted to 106 children's hospitals across the country. Now 84% of babies don't need to remove their eyes anymore. They can save their lives through this new therapy.
I changed my original intention of coming to Beijing, gave up my life plan to live a comfortable life, and I moved forward the second time. That was the second time I left my leave in my life....
The third time I left my leave
2017 was my 13 years of drifting in Beijing. We saw the ophthalmology department of the Children's Hospital from 30 outpatient clinics every day and 1,500 outpatient clinics every day.
The ophthalmology department of Children's Hospital turned out to be only 10,000 people per year. We saw 220,000 people. We have given outpatient clinics, surgery and treatment for more than 1.5 million babies. This is the second report card I have submitted for entrepreneurship.
A scoop of wine in ten years is enough to comfort the dust of the wind . I completed all the things I promised to the old dean. We created the largest pediatric ophthalmology in China, and we completed the transformation and sublimation of pediatric ophthalmology.
2017 60-year-old started his business again
The responsibility of a doctor, from the moment he put on white clothes, he had a lifetime At the age of 60, I wanted to complete the plan 14 years ago: take out thousands of Oscar blockbusters I treasured, pull films one by one, I want to go to Tibet, I want to watch the Northern Lights, I want to play drums, I want to raise chickens, flowers, and grass, I want to travel around the world...
But two things made me give up all of this:
The first thing is in our patient WeChat group.
On a day, a parent posted a photo of a calf. She said, "I bought three calfs, one of which costs 2,800 yuan. I want to raise the calf into a big calf and sell it. I went to Beijing to ask Director Yu Gang to help my baby with an upper eye sagging surgery."
I helped him calculate. If the calf is not sick, he will have to be raised for five years before he can come to Beijing to perform surgery on his baby. After reading this WeChat, my heart was broken. The second thing I saw was a patient who was only 6 months old, with severe strabismus, severe nystagmus, and heart disease.
In order to relieve his pressure, I comforted her half-jokingly and said: Go to Baiyun Temple to ask for a blessing for your child and bless your child with peace and safety.
Unexpectedly, four days later, I received a express delivery, which contained a blessing, and a mother's words:
Director Yu Gang, we went to Baiyun Temple, we also asked you for a blessing, I hope you will have surgery for our baby in four years,
I replied to her in WeChat voice: The baby will cure his heart disease first, and the child is older, I will definitely perform surgery on him. In the message, I choked several times..........
This blessing I always wear on my body.
So, I gave up my third life plan.
When I was 60 years old, I established the Meihe Ophthalmologist Group, and I established the Baby Eye Doctor Group. Director Wu Qian and Dean Zhang Feng at the forefront, the three of us led our Meihe team to move forward again. This is the third time I have left my leave in my life.
