More than 99% of the fishing products sold to the mainland in Taiwan have been suspended. Only one of the hundreds of industry operators has been allowed to export aquatic products to the mainland. The impacted aquatic products include Wuzai fish , squid and saury . The Taiwan "Committee of Agriculture" confirmed the news.
As for why the mainland suddenly suspends the import of Taiwan’s aquatic products, this matter has long been given a "vaccine" to Taiwan. In order to implement the Food Safety Law and its Implementation Regulations and other provisions, as early as April 2021, the General Administration of Customs of issued the "HTM3 Imported Food Overseas Manufacturing Enterprise Registration and Management Regulations " (General Administration of Customs Order No. 248), which clarified the main responsibilities of enterprises and the supervision responsibilities of the competent departments in the local area, and was also conducive to ensuring consumers' food safety. In order to ensure that Taiwan’s aquatic products are not affected by the import of Taiwan’s aquatic products, the mainland has long informed Taiwan of relevant matters and requirements through existing contact channels, and handled the registration of Taiwan’s food production enterprises imported from mainland China in accordance with relevant regulations. From April last year to December this year, the mainland gave Taiwan a year and eight months to handle related registration matters, but Taiwan ignored the mainland's regulations and requirements.
Now the mainland is taking serious action. The fishermen in Tainan have suffered heavy losses. The Taiwan side has begun to complain again. The media on the island falsely claimed that the mainland "banned from warning" Taiwan's aquatic products from the mainland. The Mainland Affairs Council even complained first, claiming that it would express solemn protests. I have to admire the "skills" of the Taiwan authorities and the media on the island for turning black and white into trouble. What the Taiwan authorities do is like a "giant baby". However, the mainland is not accusing the Taiwan authorities of the causeless accusations and smears of the Taiwan authorities. Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that the so-called "stern protest" of Taiwan is unreasonable and is purely deliberate hype.
Obviously, the import of Taiwan aquatic products into the mainland is completely blocked, which means that the Taiwan authorities do not take the mainland's regulations seriously. After so long, they have not guided or urged Taiwanese food companies to complete enterprise registration information with relevant competent departments, which does not meet the requirements of the mainland, which has led to the import of 99% of Taiwan aquatic products into the mainland being blocked. From this point of view, the culprit that caused heavy losses to fishermen in Tainan is the Taiwan authorities who verbally say they want to "solidly protest". The Taiwan authorities should bear the main responsibility for the losses of fishermen in Tainan.
On August 1, the General Administration of Customs announced that some Taiwanese manufacturers violated relevant regulations and urgently stopped input. According to statistics from Taiwanese media, there are more than 100 merchants affected 2,066 Taiwanese food items, up to 64% of the total registered Taiwanese enterprises. The projects include aquatic products, health products, tea, biscuits, beverages, etc. On August 3, the General Administration of Customs issued another announcement that from now on, the import measures of suspending the input of grapefruit , lemon, orange and other citrus fruits, chilled leucorrhea and frozen horse mackerel from Taiwan to the mainland will be taken. With the experience of the past, the Taiwan authorities are still indifferent, so don’t blame the mainland for being rude.
The main reason why the Taiwan authorities are trying to harm the interests of Taiwanese businessmen and ignore the mainland's regulations is probably because of their separatist stance. According to the regulations issued by the General Administration of Customs, the word "China" must be added to Taiwan. In order to continue to create the illusion of "one side, one country", the Taiwan authorities refused to change the registration location of merchants in Taiwan to comply with the mainland's regulations in accordance with the requirements of the one-China principle . But what the Taiwan authorities did not expect was that the mainland will no longer give it any opportunity to take advantage of this time, and there will be no "exceptions". If it does not meet the one-China principle, then the registration will not be completed and the goods on the island will not be sold to the mainland.
There is reason to believe that the mainland will no longer allow Taiwan to make money from the mainland while separating the island. Anyone who does not abide by the one-China principle and engages in division will never give it a way out. For Taiwanese society, hard days have just begun. During an avalanche, no snowflake is innocent, so don’t tell me that the Taiwanese people are innocent victims.
