TSMC pointed out that the facilities of these companies are close to TSMC's plant, which can reduce costs and promote immediate coordination. For some Taiwanese companies who came to the United States to set up factories, financial challenges are not small, and there is no bilateral tax agreement between Taiwan and the United States, which increases the cost of these manufacturers moving funds to the United States.
It is reported that TSMC's US wafer factory will hold the "first machine migration" ceremony on December 6. At that time, TSMC will invite guests including customers, suppliers, academics and government representatives to celebrate the important milestone of the first batch of machinery and equipment to arrive at the factory.
TSMC pointed out that as the machinery and equipment arrives at the factory, it means that the factory has been partially completed. Next, it will be prepared to move into the first batch of cutting-edge equipment used for semiconductor manufacturing; the Arizona 5-nanometer plant started construction about 18 months ago, and the construction progress is expected and will start mass production in 2024, with a monthly production capacity of 420,000 pieces.
