According to CCTV.com , Taiwan’s “Agriculture Commission” released data showing that in the first half of this year, fresh refrigerated fruits imported into the mainland in Taiwan only accounted for 2.39% of the total export proportion, and in 2016, this data was as high as 84.93%, which means that fresh fruits imported into the mainland on the island suffered a cliff-like decline and are even about to be cleared.

The export of Taiwan’s fresh fruits has always relied heavily on the mainland market. According to statistics, in 2021, 86% of citrus fruits sold on and off the island were imported into the mainland, more than 90% of sakya were imported into the mainland, and most of the various agricultural and fishery products such as pineapple and grouper were also imported into the mainland, but these categories have been temporarily banned, which means that the income of agricultural and fishery on the island will be cut in half, and there are two main reasons for this situation.

First, these agricultural and fishery products themselves have problems. For example, fruits such as Saga and pineapple were detected with parasites, and fish products such as grouper were detected with banned drugs. After the problem was detected, the mainland reminded the relevant departments of Taiwan many times, but the Taiwan authorities chose to ignore the reminder and still do their own way. For the health of mainland consumers, they can only stop the input of these fresh fruits.

Second, political manipulation by the Taiwan authorities. In fact, the solution to the problem is very simple. After receiving the ban from the mainland, the Taiwan authorities should actively communicate with the mainland and actively rectify the existing problems. After the mainland evaluates that the relevant goods meet the requirements, the ban will naturally be lifted. But from the ban on pineapples to the ban on citrus fruits, the Taiwan authorities have only done two things so far, which are of no benefit to solving the problem.

First of all, it is to blame the mainland. The ban on slandering the mainland is the so-called "economic suppression" and "political coercion", and intends to blame the mainland for damage to the agriculture and fishery on the island.

The second is to draw big cakes for farmers and fishermen. On the one hand, they shouted that the people on the island should support farmers and fishermen, and on the other hand, they also expressed that they would help farmers and fishermen find another way of sales. But the Taiwan authorities can only shout slogans and do not care about the actual situation at all. The island market is limited and it is impossible to digest so many unsold agricultural and fishery products.

. To choose to broaden the export route, transportation costs and storage issues have to be considered. For example, among the pineapples shipped to Japan on the island, there were many unscrupulous situations, which caused the price of pineapples exported to Japan to plummet directly, and even lower than the selling price on the island, and there was no profit margin at all.

Fruit fresh food in Taiwan relies extremely on the mainland market, not only because of the mainland's support for Taiwan's agriculture and fishery, but also the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have great advantages in terms of geographical and language. Fresh fruits from Taiwan are imported into the mainland, with low transportation costs and stable sales. There is also an ECFA green channel, and even quarantine reports can be submitted after passing the customs. Such superior trade terms are irreplaceable by other export channels. However, the DPP authorities only consider their own political interests and ignore the actual interests of farmers and fishermen on the island, which ultimately caused a devastating impact on the cross-strait fresh fruit trade.

DPP is now a cancer on the island, politicizing almost all issues involving people's livelihood. Imported "Laic pigs" have become "American pigs". If you don't eat them, you won't get the so-called "support" of the United States. Letting go of "core food" becomes "lucky food". If you don't eat Japan, you won't let Taiwan join CPTTP.

This is to tell the people on the island to bluntly use the health and well-being of the Taiwanese people and the overall interests of the Taiwan region, please foreign forces, and create so-called "political achievements" for the DPP. However, even so, the Taiwan authorities still shamelessly said that these are all for the good of Taiwan.

If the DPP still insists on its own, I am afraid that the economic and trade environment between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait will face greater challenges in the future. Although the DPP says it doesn't matter, it can't change the fact that Taiwan is extremely dependent on the mainland. When Xia Liyan, vice chairman of the Kuomintang , visited the mainland, he expressed concern about whether the mainland would cancel the ECFA, which shows that our anti-"Taiwan independence" campaign has begun to show results during this period.

In the future, we must continue to increase our efforts to fight "independence". Only by crushing the obstacle of "Taiwan independence" can we better promote the reunification of the cross-strait.
