Taipei mayor elected Jiang Wan'an resigned as a "legislator" before the election, leaving behind a "legislator" in the third election district of Taipei City (Zhongshan, Beisongshan) in a shortage. The Taiwan authorities' election agency quickly finalized the registration deadline for the "legislator" by-election this Friday and the voting on January 8 next year. Time is tight, and Taipei City Councilman Wang Hongwei, who has a high voice in the Kuomintang, has a firm attitude and shows that he will not run for the election.
Except for Wang Hongwei and city councillor Xu Qiaoxin, they have expressed their willingness to run for election. The Kuomintang Group Conference stated that the Taiwan authorities' election agency issued the election announcement for the third constituency of Taipei City on November 22, and accepted the registration of candidates from November 28 to December 2, and voted on January 8, 2023; the election schedule for the second constituency of Nantou County has not yet been decided, but the by-election voting should be completed within three months from the date of the vacancy.
The Kuomintang Group Conference stated that given the urgency of by-election, it is difficult to register, coordinate, primary election and other operations in accordance with the procedures stipulated in the Kuomintang’s nomination measures, and consider that the vacancies by-election are all vacant by-election districts, and we must gain more time to evaluate the strength of those interested in candidates and coordinate the adjustment of cooperation.
Therefore, the 10th "Legislator" for the 10th "Legislator" Taipei City's third constituency and the second constituency of Nantou County will nominate candidates for the vacancies.
