So, although these surviving Jews regained their freedom, nightmares and hatred accompanied them for the rest of their lives.

The plot of this film is very clever and full of suspense, especially the gorgeous reversal at the end, which is truly unexpected but reasonable.
The protagonist Zev is an old man living in a nursing home who suffers from severe Alzheimer's disease and can't even remember the incident of his wife passing away last week.
At the commemoration meeting of the first seventh anniversary of the deceased wife (this is probably the same meeting), Zev's old friend Max gave him a letter, asking Zev to complete something according to the instructions in the letter.
Zev Although he knew that he couldn't find Bei after leaving the sanatorium, he vaguely felt that he was obliged to fulfill the requirements in the letter. So, on a dark and windy night, Zev secretly left the nursing home by taxi.
Following the instructions in the letter, Zev first came to a gun store. He bought a pistol here and revealed to the gun seller that he was forgetful and did not know much about using a gun.
At this time, the gun seller had a little ups and downs in his heart. He felt that the old man who bought the gun might cause trouble. After thinking for a while, the gun seller decided to sell the gun to Zev.
Starting from here, the style of the film transitions from "Leaping the Nursing Home" to "Red Flame Battlefield".
It turns out that Max is the victim of Auschwitz and has been with Zev in Auschwitz. Later, Max learned that a Nazi officer who abused him back then was named "Rudy Kurand" and still survived. Therefore, Max, who was unable to move after a stroke, asked Zev to end the demon. Given that Zev has a forgetfulness, Max specially wrote a letter to remind Zev of the purpose of this trip.
Max locked four people named "Rudy Kurand" through investigation. Zev quickly found two of them, but neither of them were targets of action.
When Zev found the third "Rudy Kurand", he found that Kurand had passed away, and according to his son, Kurand had never been to Auschwitz. But Zev accidentally discovered that Kurand and his son were both fanatical Nazis and hated Jews very much. When Kurand's son learned that Zev was Jewish, his attitude immediately became bad.
At the critical moment, Zev took out the pistol he had purchased before and shot the Nazi.
Zev continues to go on the road and comes to the last "Rudy Kurand" home. Zev predicted that Kurand must be the person he was looking for, so Zev took out his pistol as soon as he met.
What Zev did not expect was that the truth of the matter was completely beyond his expectations, and the plot was completely reversed here. It turned out that Zev was once a Nazi, and he was both the guardian of Auschwitz with the last Kurand. Alzheimer's disease made Zev forget his identity. Everything is a battle between snipe and clam designed by Max.
This film was nominated for the 72nd Venice Film Industry Golden Lion Award . The film has a very good control over the overall rhythm and the psychological changes of the characters. Especially the ending part is eye-catching, avoiding the film falling into clichés.
