He is a military strategist with both moral integrity and talent, wisdom and courage, and civil and military. Mao Zedong and the older generation of revolutionaries once praised him as a good example for the heroes of the Chinese nation and Communists.
1936 Peng Xuefeng was in Taiyuan for united front work in Yan Xishan
Red Army During the period, he led his troops to participate in anti-encirclement and suppression , captured Loushanguan , and took Zunyi City directly. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he led the Fourth Division of the New Fourth Army to fight in Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu, and successively established the Fuxiao Daily, Fuxiao Opera Troupe, and the Cavalry Corps to expand the base area, kill the enemy and win, and gained a reputation. During this period, Peng Xuefeng got an unexpected gain, that is, he married Lin Ying in his heart.
On September 11, 1944, Peng Xuefeng led the Fourth Division of the New Fourth Army to die heroically in the battle against the enemy at the age of 37. Given that Peng Xuefeng has extraordinary influence in the army and base areas, and also considering the troops' subsequent combat needs, the news of Peng Xuefeng's death was not immediately announced, nor was it informed that his wife Lin Ying, who was pregnant with Liujia. In order to allow Lin Ying to produce with peace of mind, the leaders of the Fourth Division sent telegrams to Lin Ying four times in the name of Peng Xuefeng.
A few months later, Lin Ying successfully gave birth to a baby boy at Huanghuatang Hospital in the New Fourth Army Department of Huainan, named Peng Xiaofeng. The Chief of Staff of the New Fourth Army, Lai Chuanzhu, , and the Political Commissar of the Fourth Division, Deng Zihui, came to Lin Ying's residence together. After seeing Xiao Feng who was sobbing on the bed, Deng Zihui couldn't help but choked up and said, "Comrade Lin Ying, you have to hold on... Xiao Feng can't see his father!" Before he finished speaking, Deng Zihui was already crying.
This sudden blow was like a bolt from the blue for Lin Ying, and she couldn't help crying. Deng Zihui comforted her and said, "All the comrades in the army are mourning Commander Xue Feng. Please take care of me! Comrade Xue Feng is gone, but he has successors, so he must pull Xue Feng's flesh and blood. This is the best memory of Xue Feng..."

In May 1940, Deng Yingchao, who was far away in Chongqing, wrote a letter to Peng Xuefeng, proposing to be a "matchmaker" for him. But Peng Xuefeng, who was devoted to work, declined Deng Yingchao in his reply: "I solemnly declare to my elder sister that my personal problems have not been solved and I do not plan to solve them." Lin Ying was both surprised and excited when she received the letter. Her admiration for Peng Xuefeng's handsome appearance, unconventional temperament and outstanding eloquence continued to deepen as she understood Peng Xuefeng more and more. When Liu Zijiu and Liu Ruilong said they wanted to introduce her to Peng Xuefeng, she was a little worried that marrying a teacher would affect her original work. She promised to learn about it first, but at the same time she also expressed that she had firm confidence in their success.

The newlyweds were filled with infinite happiness.
The third day after marriage, Lin Ying returned to her job. Peng Xuefeng quickly wrote a letter of lovesickness to Lin Ying.
"Ying: It's only been three days since we parted, it seems that it's already been three months... People say that I'm a person with rich feelings. In the past, I've been a little strange recently. The shadow of a person can't be relieved from morning to night! Outsiders know, it's really funny!..."
