According to China News Service, the Malaysian National Palace issued a statement on the afternoon of the 24th that the head of state appointed PH chairman Anwar as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia and will take office after taking oath to the king at 5 pm this afternoon.
It is reported that Malaysia held a general election on the 19th. The Malaysian Election Commission announced the preliminary election results in the early morning of November 20. Among the 220 seats with existing results, the Hope League led by opposition leader Anwar won 82 seats, ranking first; the National League led by former Prime Minister Muhyiddin followed closely behind and won 73 seats. To form a new government, you must master the simple majority of 112 seats.
Anwar is 75 years old and has served as the acting chairman of the Malay national unity ( UMNO ) and the deputy prime minister of Malaysia. After being expelled from UMNO in 1998, Anwar formed the National PKR (later changed to the People's PKR), and has always been a core figure in the Hope League (or its predecessor, the People's League, the Alternative Front, etc.).
