After the large-scale stampede in Itaewon , the South Korean government announced that October 30 to November 5 were the national mourning period. Subsequently, South Korea’s three major wireless TV stations KBS, MBCh and SBS decided to cancel all entertainment programs and some TV series scheduled to be broadcast on October 30, and Korean entertainment agency and its artists also canceled their scheduled performances.
According to Seoul News, two of the victims of the stampede accident in Itaewon were confirmed as artists, namely the contestant of the popular talent show "Produce101 Season 2 ", actor Lee Ji-han, and professional cheerleader Kim Yoona . Both were born in 1998, and their family was published on October 31.
South Korea's JTBC TV said on October 31 that South Korea's three major wireless TV stations decided to cancel the popular variety shows originally scheduled to be broadcast on the same day, including "Two Days and One Night", "The King of Masked Singer" and "Running Man". The large Korean entertainment company SM said it would cancel the Halloween event red carpet show, which was originally scheduled to be broadcast live on the afternoon of October 30. YG Entertainment said it will postpone all promotional activities and work launch conferences that its singers and artists were originally scheduled to hold in the near future. BTS brokerage company announced on October 30 that it would postpone the launch of the BTS member Kim Seok-jin works, which was originally scheduled to be held on October 30 and 31.
In addition, Korean singers Jang Yunjun, Youngjoo, and Hong Jin-young also urgently canceled their solo concerts on that day on October 30. Korean film industry is no exception. YTN TV said on October 31 that the upcoming Korean films "Remember" (starring Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Seung-min) and "Confession" (starring So Ji-sup and Nana ) were originally scheduled to hold an audience meeting on October 30, and another film "Apgujeong" (starring Ma Dong-seok) is also planned to hold a press conference on October 30.
