Sanguan Emperor is one of the long-standing folk religious beliefs in China. It belongs to the only local religious belief in China, the three Tianguan Officials respected by Taoism, commonly known as "Three Realms Gong", "Three Yuan Emperor", "Three Yuan Emperor", etc. The three realms refer to the three realms of "heaven", "earth" and "water". The belief in the three officials originated from the natural worship of heaven, earth and water by ancient ancestors. The full name of the three officials is "Shangyuan blessed heavenly officials first-rank Ziwei Emperor ", " Zhongyuan forgive sins, the second-rank qingxu Emperor", and "Xiayuan Jiehe Water officials Third-rank Cave Yin Emperor". The birthdays of the three officials are in Shangyuan, Zhongyuan and Xiayuan respectively, so the three officials are also called "Sanyuan Emperor".
The three officials have been deeply rooted in the people, are widely popular among the people, and are closely linked to our lives. For example, " Tianguan Blessing ", the Tianguan who is wearing a big red official uniform, a dragon robe and jade belt, holding a wishful heart, five strands of curly beards, and a kind face, is not only in the New Year, but everyone has his old man in their hearts. Our God of Wealth, God of Auspiciousness, and the great good man who blesses. The three officials in the heavenly court have the second only to the Jade Emperor. They are appointed by the Jade Emperor and are governed by the three realms of heaven, earth and water respectively. The heavenly officials control the blessings of the world, which is the so-called "the blessings of the heavenly officials"; the earthly officials control the sins of the world, which is the so-called "the earthly officials release the sins"; the water officials control the elimination of disasters in the world, which is the so-called "the water officials resolve the disasters." Therefore, there is a saying: "The heavenly officials are happy, the earthly officials are good people, and the water officials are good at lamps." The three officials monitor the good and evil in the world respectively. Because they are closely related to the misfortunes, fortunes, honors and disgraces of people, they are widely respected.
In the past, Sanguan Temple, Sanguan Hall, and Sanguan Hall were built across the country. Every time the three officials’ birthdays, people will go to worship. In Taiwan, on the birthday of Emperor Tianguan, believers should prepare two tables of gods at home to the gate, and use two stools to raise them under the table. The lower table is connected to the upper and lower floors behind the table. Several pieces of gold must be placed on the four feet of each table and isolated from the ground to show respect for the gods. Twelve bowls of vegetarian dishes, noodles, red turtles, five fruits, etc. were served on the table to wish Emperor Tianguan a long life. The heavenly soldiers and generals who worship the Emperor of Heaven, including three or five animals, wine and vegetables, are placed on the table. I pray to Emperor Tianguan and pray for peace and prosperity to the whole family. Every year, the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month is the birthday of the earthly officials. On this day, every household kills chickens and sheep, burns incense and worships. Everyone placed sacrifices on the temple altar to seek blessings and elimination of disasters by the earthly officials. The fifteenth day of the tenth lunar month of the lunar calendar every year is also the birthday of the Shuiguan Emperor. According to legend, the Shuiguan Emperor will descend to the world to eliminate disasters and disasters for believers, so every household in this heaven prepares sacrifices, sweets, fragrances and flowers for sacrifices.
people's belief in the Three Officials originated from the ancients' awe and worship of nature, and also derived a variety of folk legends. There is a legend that the Three Officials Emperors were named the Three Emperors of Heaven, Earth and Water after the death of the three emperors of Yao, Shun and Yu. This is because of the great contributions of these three people to the world, so they control the three realms, govern the human world, and protect the people. There is another saying that the three officials originated from the three qi of metal, water and earth. People believe that heaven and earth are the main body of birth, earth's energy is the main body of formation, and water is the main body of transformation. Gold, earth and water are combined with the three qi of heaven, earth and water, and become the three officials. There are many legends. They are all ordered to govern the people by the people, accept the believers' prayers for blessings, forgive sins, and relieve misfortunes, and do practical things for the people.
