Usually each mother needs to undergo 13 prenatal checkups throughout the entire pregnancy. It is once a month before 28 weeks of pregnancy, once a week from 28 to 36 weeks, and once a week after 36 weeks. Before 28 weeks of pregnancy, especially the first and second prenatal examinations, there is a very important examination item - Down screening. Professional terms such as early Tang, NT, mid Tang, non-invasive DNA, amniocentesis, etc. are all related to this Down screening.

When the cat mother was pregnant, Zhu Dad actually knew almost nothing about these nouns because he had never deliberately understood them. What impressed Zhu’s father the most was that when he heard a few years ago that his brother’s wife was at a critical value or at a high risk when he was screened for Down. The doctor suggested that my brother not have this child, but my brother ignored the doctor’s advice and finally gave birth to a smart, lively and cute little handsome guy. Later, Dad Zhu did his homework seriously and gained a deeper understanding of this. I hope to share it with all mothers and fathers in a simpler and easier to understand way.

1. Let’s first briefly clarify a few basic concepts:

1. Down syndrome: Professionally said is 21 trisomy syndrome , congenital foolish , which means that the patient’s 21st pair of chromosomes has one more than a normal person (normal people are one pair), and is the most common chromosome aneuploid disease. A simple understanding is that the child will have obvious intellectual backwardness, special face, growth and development disorders, and multiple deformities. These are pains that every parent cannot bear.

2. Down Screening: Down Screening is the abbreviation of prenatal screening test for Down syndrome.

3. Early Tang: Early Tang's screening. This examination is mainly performed on the "9th-13th week + 6" during pregnancy. It uses two screening methods for "ultrasound" and "blood draw".

4, Zhongtang: mid-term Down screening. This test mainly tests the fetal A protein, chorionic gonadotropin, free estriol and inhibin in the serum at the "15th-20th week + 6" of pregnancy. The risk of fetal hibistric acid Down's disease was calculated according to the age, pregnancy weeks and weight of the pregnant mother.

5, NT: is the abbreviation of Nucal Thranslucency, which refers to the transparent layer of the neck, that is, the maximum thickness between the skin

on the horizontal vertebra of the fetal cervical vertebra and the subcutaneous soft tissue. This is one of the basis for early Down's screening judgment.

2. What should we do?

Ba Zhu made a flow chart based on the inspection process of the early Tang Dynasty, the situation encountered, etc. After reading it, I believe that all mothers and dads should roughly understand what is going on. The details are as follows:

Down screening overall process

3. What does the early Tang report and NT report look like?

Early Tang report and NT color ultrasound report basically look like this.

Early Tang-Semetic Sample Inspection Report

Early Tang-NT Report (Color Ultrasound)

Zhu Dad suggested:

1. Since the accuracy rate of early Tang exceeds 90%, you can do early Tang, try to do early Tang, remember to make an appointment for the examination at the best examination time; usually NT and blood draw are done on the same day. If you can't do it on the same day, and the result of NT is low risk, you can consider not taking premature Tang blood draw.

2. If the critical value of the early Tang/NT etc. is displayed, don’t worry too much. The critical value does not mean that there is a problem with the fetus. If there is a high risk, it should be handled more carefully. Doctors generally recommend non-invasive or amniocentesis for further confirmation. It is recommended to consult a professional doctor for treatment.

3. If you can’t get enough time and you can’t do early Tang, then wait until 16-18 weeks before doing mid-tang screening.

4. Many elderly women over 35 years old have high risks in early Tang Dynasty. You can consult a doctor about which method to screen Down syndrome .
