991, 17 people from the Sino-Japanese joint mountaineering team were killed. The snow-capped mountain was the only forbidden mountain in my country - Meili Snow Mountain.
7 years after the "snow difficulty", in 1998, the villagers at the foot of the mountain found some clothes and items of different colors floating on the ice. When they approached, they found that there were remains and other objects. Later, after professionals determined that it was the body of a member of the Sino-Japanese joint team who suffered a snowfall in 1991.

Since then, the pain that has been covered with dust has been revealed again, and the story of Meili Snow Mountain "the fairyland" once again lingers in the minds of people inside and outside the mountain.

The origin of the title of "sacred mountain" of Meili Snow Mountain
Meili Snow Mountain Historical is a long-lasting peak in Yunnan and is the first of the eight sacred mountains of Tibetan Buddhism. According to legend, more than 100,000 Tibetan Buddhist believers come hiking thousands of miles away every year. They believe that as long as you walk around the Meili Snow Mountain step by step, you can wash away the sins and filth of your life. Therefore, in the eyes of devout believers and villagers, stepping on the snowy mountain of Meili with your feet is equivalent to insulting your father and mother in person.

Meili Snow Mountain is famous both at home and abroad. Although there are many climbs, there has never been any successful experience or rumors of climbing to the top so far. Among the many failed mountaineering results, the destruction of all Chinese and Japanese teams in 1991 was the first of the past disasters, which not only sounded the alarm for the mountaineering team members who were ready to move behind, but also successfully consolidated the mysterious snow-capped status of Meili Snow Mountain. There have been many different opinions on the reasons and process of the failure of the Chinese and Japanese teams to climb mountaineering. Some people believe that the physical fitness of the mountaineering personnel cannot adapt to the climate of the snow-capped mountains, but more people believe that the mountaineering personnel have blasphemed the gods and were punished by God.
But these are all unfounded personal speculations and cannot truly base themselves on the facts. It was not until 7 years later that among the relics of the victims of the Chinese and Japanese teams, the villagers found a diary describing the mountaineering scene at that time. With simple strokes, in addition to some of the dangers and feelings of climbing, the most shocking thing was the strange and unreal events that invisibly fit the various rumors about Meili Snow Mountain. Although the words
have long lost the unique fragrance of books and ink, the rigid and messy fonts inside are like reflections and replicas of the last faces of the victims.
The strange event of the snow mountain mentioned in the middle of the article is more like a picture of monsters and ghosts in the mountains, making people tremble and full of imagination.

Historical difficulties of Meili Snow Mountain - China-Japan Mountaineering Team
990, the Sino-Japan Joint Team relied on their deep knowledge of snow mountain and superb climbing technology to establish camps No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 during the process of marching in the snow mountain. Camp No. 4 was built in front of an ice wall at an altitude of 5,900 meters, where the team members planned their first plan to reach the top. Shortly after the start of the
plan, the emergence of a strange event inadvertently enhanced the players' determination to move forward. It was a buck who appeared in the sleep of multiple members, shining golden light and majestic. It stood on their way with its head held high, as if it was shaking a flag for them, and behind the deer was a gray, medium-sized wolf. Just as recorded in the diary, this is a good omen of climbing.

Later, the mountaineering was slow but not much twists and turns, and the distance of climbing gradually became clear and clear without realizing it. Even if the ruthless wind and snow were whipping it freely, they did not feel any timid. When the blizzard came, their vertical height from the top of the mountain was less than 300 meters. They are unwilling to give up their success at hand, but they are even more unable to withstand the snowstorm that pours down like stones. In addition to helplessness, the commando captain had to order "cancel the action".

, climbed again on January 1, 1991. Due to the impact of the blizzard, there was no substantial progress in the two days after climbing. Until the evening of January 3, the team members specifically measured the thickness of the snow. As stated in the diary, the thickness of the snow had reached 1.6m at that time, which was enough to flood an adult. What was terrible is that the wind and snow were still continuing. At 10 o'clock in the evening, when the mountaineering team contacted the foreign base camp, their emotions suddenly lost control and said they had seen the temple, with obvious trembling and despair in their words. Immediately afterwards, the walkie-talkie was disconnected.

Base Camp 2 is worried about the safety of its members, but based on the lack of snow-capped meteorological information, the logistics personnel lacked mountain climbing knowledge and experience. It was not until January 20 that a professional snow-capped rescue team was welcomed. But another sudden snowstorm left the group of mountaineers under the snow-capped mountains. Even the rescue team members with the most experience in mountaineering could only retreat to camp No. 1.
On November 22, the rescue team announced that they would give up the rescue. The record of the
diary came to an abrupt end on January 3, which is the day when the signal was interrupted with the base camp. Just like the sudden end of the diary, the lives of 17 team members fell, and the authenticity of the diary was beyond recognition, and we could not empathize with the mood and helplessness of the 17 mountaineering team members when snow was difficult to occur. Based on the frequent avalanches in the snow-capped mountains and the dangers in the mountains at that time, the rescue team returned unsuccessfully. Time unknowingly made the pain scarred, but one day 7 years later, he was cruelly tore off and was bleeding.

Later, after consultation between China and Japan, the remains of the 16 team members found were taken back to their hometowns by various countries for proper burial. There is no news yet on the remains of Japanese team member Shimizu Nagato.
This huge snow disaster caused the Chinese and Japanese snow mountain researchers to change the research direction of Meili snow mountain while hurting. They gradually understood that blindly rushing and rushing directly not only could not achieve scientific results, but instead were indifferent to life's irrational behavior. Based on science and truth, the main guarantee for respecting life and respecting mountaineering behavior.

The real reason why Meili Snow Mountain is difficult to climb
With the continuous development of science, the real reason why Meili Snow Mountain is difficult to climb has gradually surfaced. is one of the few low-latitude liquid glaciers in China, its annual flow rate is about 200-500 meters. Relevant data show that the lower the latitude of snow-capped , the higher the temperature, which will greatly increase the possibility of avalanche and will also bring immeasurable risk factors to mountaineers. Even if you are extremely professional mountaineering team members, after careful mountaineering preparations, it is difficult to truly ensure the smooth progress of mountaineering activities.
Secondly, Meili Snow Mountain lives next to two rivers leading directly to the ocean. The Lancang River is on the east side and the Nujiang River is on the west side. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. In terms of climate, in addition to the warm and humid atmosphere of the Bay of Bengal, Meili Snow Mountain also faces strong cold airflow from Qinghai-Tibet High. Under the collision between the two sides, the wonderful scene of "the sun shines thousands of miles in the first second, the wind blows hard in the next second, and the wind and snow are pleasing" often happens.

Furthermore, the height of Kawabo Peak, the main peak of Meili Snow Mountain, is only 6740 meters, but the suitable position to climb is on the 2006-meter Lancang River. The relative heights of the two are 4734 meters apart. On average, one kilometer will move forward, and the terrain will rise by 400 meters. almost forms a nearly vertical slope .
There was once meteorological record showing that there were hundreds of avalanches in Meili Snow Mountain on one day. In addition to the uncertainty of avalanches, glaciers and hail are also scattered everywhere on the snow-capped mountains, which are full of dangers, resulting in the possibility of climbers being buried in the sea of fire at any time. In a later investigation, relevant personnel found that the main reason for the mountaineering disaster in 1991 was an avalanche.

In 2001, due to the request of villagers and the occurrence of various mountaineering disasters, Kawagbo Peak passed the declaration of forever banning climbing. This is not only out of respect for local residents, but also has a deep desire to prevent such climbing disasters from happening again. It can be seen that challenging some difficulties that have never been precedent will bring a moment of joy, but if you pay the heavy price of your life, it will be more than worth the loss. In order to despise the long-standing social customs and trampling on other people's life beliefs is also a very unwise behavioral choice. Therefore, when facing mountains, rivers and rivers with rich cultural accumulation, we should replace conquest with awe, and while ensuring our own safety, we can achieve a beautiful situation of harmonious coexistence between mankind and nature.
