However, if the output value is calculated in the New Taiwan Dollar, the Taiwan Circuit Board Association (TPCA) and the Industrial Economics and Trend Research Center of the Institute of Industrial Technology (IEK) estimate that the output value of printed circuit boards (PCBs) of Taiwanese businessmen across the Taiwan Strait in the third quarter was 149.6 billion yuan, an increase of 12.8% over the previous quarter, but a recession of 0.3% over the same period last year.
TPCA and IEK estimate that the output value in the third quarter was reduced by 0.3% compared with the same period last year. Except for the US dollar variable, it is not ruled out that the new generation of Apple iPhone was not launched as scheduled. However, senior analysts of IEK and Apple PCB supply chain both privately revealed: "It will not be fully put into production."
Dong Zhongming said that the market statistics of the global mobile phone market shipments increased by only 1.3% year-on-year, but the first half of the year has increased by 5% compared with the same period last year, which means that the second half of the year will be worse than the same period last year. It may be that many brand flagship phones have been listed in the first half of the year, and only Apple's new iPhone 4 in the second half of the year, but he believes that the growth rate this year will still exceed 1.3%.
Dong Zhongming emphasized that the prosperity of the PCB industry this year is much better than in the past few years. Because the PCB industry took orders in US dollars, the annual output value was US$18.702 billion, a growth of 6.9%, of which US$4.371 billion was US$4.371 billion in the second quarter, an increase of 3.3% and 7.0% respectively over the previous quarter and the same period last year.
Dong Zhongming pointed out that the New Taiwan dollar appreciates against the US dollar this year. If calculated in the New Taiwan dollar, the estimated annual output value is 570.4 billion yuan, an increase of only 0.8% year-on-year. In the second quarter, the PCB output value of Taiwanese businessmen across the Taiwan Strait was 132.3 billion yuan, an increase of 0.6% over the previous quarter, but a decrease of 0.2% from the same period last year.
Dong Zhongming analyzed that in terms of the downstream terminal markets of PCB, servers are expected to grow this year, and shipments of LCD TVs (LCDs, TVs) and tablets have all declined, but the copper price of raw materials upstream of PCB is on the rise.
